Cadmus Labs is the leading scientific research corporation in the world for bio-engineering. A national organization based out of Metropolis it has interests in the fields of human evolution, advancement of genetics, molecular medicine and discovering the secrets of biology (terrestrial and extraterrestrial alike).

Origin

Project Cadmus often referred to as just Cadmus started out as a research center that lead the scientific front in stem cell research and can be attributed for countless breakthroughs in mapping the humane genome. Since it's inception the company has expanded and grown from it's humble Metropolis origins to become an internationally recognized name and the world leader in the field of bio-engineering.

Not long after Cadmus was formed it quickly became a "go to" scientific asset for the U.S. military. Unknown to the world at large the company has been collaborating with major corporations and governments for years, experimenting on extraterrestrials, metahumans and mutants alike. The company can be accounted for numerous genetic monstrosities and human/alien experiments such as the DNAliens, the Hairies, Guardian and Superboy (these are only several examples, other clones such as Ben Reilly, Match, etc can also be connected).

Cadmus is also directly responsible for the creation of a variant metahuman known as Gen-Actives who were created off a modified X-Gene strain. This project known only as Genesis has since been cancelled and dubbed a failure.

Sometime after the Genesis program was cancelled a series of scandals and bad publicity struck Cadmus with accusations of illegal cloning and a list of crimes under the guise of science (Evil Factory, the NOWHERE project, to name a few). This massive debacle forced the company to downsize and become a government contractor that worked directly for the umbrella agency of Stormwatch; what transpired during this phase is considered classified.

Several of it's leading directors and scientists of the time are tried for these crimes against humanity and nature. Those accused, serving time, acquited or suspect numbered over a dozen scientists and several directors that list includes but is not limited to former Genesis director Ivana Baiul, NYC chief geneticist Miles Warren and renowned scientist Dabney Donovan.

Just recently by means of a press conference the Cadmus Project was released of its contractual obligations to Stormwatch and to encourage a new fresher more welcoming public face Cadmus has begun calling itself Cadmus Labs.

As of 2015 Cadmus Labs is now once again a Metropolis headquarted bio-genetics and medical company owned by a wealthy board of high-minded individials with interests in Cadmus Labs scientific clout. It's biggest known benefactor is none other than Metropolis' very own Lex Luthor.

Cadmus Labs is still focused on human evolution, the application of bio-engineering and the medical sciences and has assured the media that any criminal or otherwise unpleasant activity will no longer be a part of the companies profile.
