It's another Sunday in Columbia's Biology and Medical departments. A number of cadavers are in the on-site morgue, people who donated their bodies to science for various lab work of those who were able to make tuition into the prestigious college.

Among those dead, one Dead Girl had decided to take a nap. Unlike the other corpses, Dead Girl is dressed as she takes what must be a wholly unrequired nap in one of the cold storage chambers for the dead to rest while their bodies taught the next generation of biologists and doctors what's what about the human body.

With her eyes closed, Dead Girl looked every bit the normal corpse- and apart from the fact she was still dressed- it he literally impossible to tell she was anything but one of the corpses who belonged here in this room.

*

For her part, Adara Hong is only in here to collect a sample. One of the professors requested that she get a sample from a particular body in a paritcular spot. Unfortunately, as fate would have it, he told her the wrong spot and it was supposed to be the cadaver to the left of Dead Girl. Now, however, Adara is walking toward Dead Girl and frowning, "Hate it in here." She quietly states to herself.

Even with the amazingly powerful artifact around her neck, she still has apprehensions about being around dead things. Either way, she has a task to do. She blinks at teh sight of Dead Girl and tilts her head, "Dressed?" She looks around at the other cadavers and frowns before looking back at the girl in front of her, "Well…suppose it is irrelevant given the sample can come from the hand or arm…"

She lets out a sigh, muttering about useless people not doing their job and pulls out a pair of gloves. Once on, she grabs a scalpel and carefully adjusts the hand before her so she can carefully slice away a piece of skin.

*

Dead Girl's eyes open slowly as someone started to cut into her hand. She lifts her head, ever so slightly, and watches with a surprisingly lack of worry that someone was cutting into her flesh. She just shifts her head, watching quietly as Adara cuts into her flesh. Flesh that heals almost immediately after being cut- a strange kind of sudden healing. "So. You going to take me out for dinner after this?" she wonders, dead-pan.

*

There's a slow blink, not from the words, that comes after. It's the healing flesh that has her staring for a moment and then she whips her head around to the voice and almost immediately Dead Girl sees fire flicker in the eyes of the mousey asian in a lab coat. She steps back fast and drops the scalpel to the ground as she stares. The temperature of the room actually raises a good ten degrees.

She then blinks several more times, "Wait…what…" She looks around and then looks back at Dead Girl, "If you are a demon…" She raises up her hand, "I really recommend leaving." She nods her head.

*

"I don't think I'm a demon." Dead Girl replies as she shifts and sits up- her eyes are red. Glowing, baleful eyes that seem to gaze from beyond the grave. "You need a finger or something?" She wonders, "It's really not a big deal if you do." she notes as she stretches languidly. Lazily. Like some kind of corpse-blue cat.

"And I mean, I was here first. Just sort of relaxing among the dead, you know, that's sort of one my things." Dead Girl remarks as she looks back at the other corpses. Then she looks back to the mousy Asian with those glowing red orbs.

*

Adara's orbs are glowing, too. Like some otherworldly flame were burning within them, flickering just inside her pupils and flickering out from time to time. She stares for a long moment before saying, "Well, you see, I was supposed to be getting a skin sample…from a corpse. Who was on that table." She nods her head, "Supposedly."

She then clears her throat and looks around again as if wondering if the camera is gonna hop out any moment, "And most people do not relax among the dead." She nods her head, "If you aren't a demon, however…who or what are you?"

*

"Oh, just another Dead Girl in the city." Dead Girl says with a little smile, a surprisingly sweet thing on that corpse-blue face. Albeit a touch creepier than most people might be able to handle.

"I'm Dead Girl. That's what I go by these days- it works, right? Pretty on the nose, right? I think it's fitting." She stands fully and gives a little 'look at me' motion, "So now I'm all this! Whatever this is, you know, is what I am!" she grins wide, "Why? Who are you?"

*

A blink at that and she states, "Dead…girl?" She then looks to the side and states, "I suppose that fits." She nods her head, "But…I'm not even sure what you mean by that but sure." She then clears her throat and teh fire dies down. The heat seems to go as well, "I am Adara Hong. Micro-biology student here at Columbia University…and I'm not sure but you seem to be trespassing. Sort of." She then swallows, "So, why are you here? Is it really that normal to be…among the dead? Even for, uh, you?"

*

"Well, being that I'm dead?" Dead Girl notes, " I mean, if you don't believe me come and check. I've got no heart beat…" she remarks, "Cold skin." she continues, " No blood- that's a big one." she says as she continues listing it off. "And yeah, I feel pretty comfortable among the dead, to be honest- I mean, they're like my people now, you know?" she asks, "Well, I guess you wouldn't, being alive."

"Anyways, yeah- So, see, I got murdered a couple of years back- and here I am now, dead. But not entirely, well, entirely dead- but not gone." she explains, "You can do a test if you want."

*

"Umm, I'm good…thanks." She states simply enough and then clears her throat, "I'm not that kind of student." She nods again, "I don't…work with the dead or the living. Well, not the big living." She gestures, "Or the big dead." She nods again and then reclears her throat.

"That being said, this is, umm, Columbia University. The morgue of such anyway. We, umm, prefer our dead to be actually dead. Dead and gone that is. Not dead and still here." She then looks around, "In the moving sense anyway." SHe looks at a cadaver beside her and then back at DG, "No one else here is gonna start moving about, right?"

*

"The could if you want." Dead Girl offers, "Do you want them to move?" she wonders looking over at the various corpses. "I can make them move." she says with a smile, a flick of the finger and in unison all the corpses sit up, then turn to face Adara with unblinking, dead eyes. "There you go! An easy trick, really," she remarks as she lets control go and the corpses all fall back to their slabs without any further movement. "That's like the first trick I learned." she says with a grin.

"So, what's your name? Did you tell me? I forget."

*

The trick is not exactly something Adara takes well. Almost immediately the room's temperature shoots up and fire flickers back into her eyes. What sounds like some beast, easily twenty times the size of the small woman emits a growl that could rival a T-Rex though if one has keen ears, that growl comes from the tiny woman. Fire flickers out of her mouth like a small burst of flame and she stares around quickly and back at Dead Girl. The bodies fall and she steps back warily before she clears her throat.

She clicks a hand shut, knuckles cracking as she states, "I do not…want them to move. I am Adara Hong. I did say that…"

*

Dead Girl watches quietly, eyes wide. She's dead, after all, there isn't a lot that frightens here any more. Still, that whole sound and fury is curious. She steps forward, looking at Adara. "Adara, huh? Nice name. I like it.' she notes, "Sorry, I was listening to the ghosts." she admits, waving around her head, "A lot of ghosts in Columbia EDU.' she remarks, "Old ones, too." she takes a slow breath- a remembrance of breathing.

"Anyways, Ms. Hong, what's with the light show?" she wonders, next, "You're not exactly human, are you?"

*

A blink, "I'm actually quite human. PLenty human." She states and closes her hands tightly and clears her throat again, twitching a little, "I just…have a friend." She nods her head, "A very powerful friend who listens to me." She nods her head, "Most of the time." She then looks around at the cadavers again, to be sure they are all still, ya know, dead, "I am sure that if there are ghosts that here is where they might be. Anyway, umm, I am still unclear as to what your purpose is here."

*

"Mm. Me? I'm Dead Girl, I thought we went over that. One part dead, entirely a Girl." Dead Girl replies, " I'm just a girl who's dead." she explains some more, "I don't know if I have a bigger purpose- do you have a purpose?" she wonders next, "I mean, who among us can be said to truly know their purpose?" she asks, as she sits back on her slab. "That's a really deep question, you know?"

*

"Umm, well, I don't know if we all have a purpose but if I do, I may have already fulfilled mine, I might not have." She shrugs and states, "Still, usually we're doing more at any given time than being what we are." She states, "You are…odd." She nods her head, "Interesting but odd."

*

"Well, what do you expect? I'm dead." Dead Girl notes, with a little smile, "Let's see you get murdered and be completely normal." she offers with a playful little grin. She might not be all there- it's difficult to say. She doesn't seem violent, at least. "So, why ask my purpose if you don't know if we have a purpose?" DEad Girl wonders next, "Sorry, I think a lot about stuff. I don't really have a lot going on being dead."

*

"Ya know ,for being dead you actually seem like you have a considerable amount going on." SHe nods her head and then shifts some in her spot, "I am…none the less, umm, really more asking why are you here. Right now. In this room of all places." She shrugs, "Though getting a straight answer out of you seems like an impossible task."

*

"Oh! Here. well, I followed a ghost here." Dead Girl replies, "And, I saw all the fellas over here taking some naps and I thought the slab looked pretty comfortable, so I found an unoccupied one and decided to lay down here for a few days and see what it was like to be a fancy, donated to science, kind of corpse." Dead Girl explains, "Turns out, it's more or less the same as being any other kind of corpse." She continues.

"Oh, and trust me- it might *seem* like I got a lot going on compared to Steve over there," nodding back towards a corpse, "But believe me, compared to you or any one of the living, not a whole lot. I mean, I had a busy period a couple of years ago when I tortured the man who murdered me into committing suicide, but beyond that, It's been pretty much just… hanging out."

*

A blink several times and Adara states, "Well, that is nice…" She mutters before shaking her head and retrieving her scalpel and putting it away. She looks at the gloves and realizes they are half-melted and sighs and peels them off as best she can. She pops them into a garbage can and then walks over to grab a new pair, "Well, I still have to get a skin sample and you really shouldn't be down here." She shakes her head, "I mean, unless you are supposed to be a corpse from which we get samples."

*

"Well, there was no on on this slab when I can in on Saturday night." Dead Girl offers with a shrug, "And the way I see it, I have more right to be in a morgue than anyone with a heart beat." she continues with a little shrug- still grinning, "But, I'll let you get back to your living life and all that. Just… be careful not to burn anything down, yeah?" she says as she stretches and just sort of floats down into the floor- through the floor- like a ghost might, "Nice meeting you!"
