Fade In…

Bishop makes routine visits to the mansion to keep the X-men updated on events in Mutant Town. Of course, the team keeps a close pulse on such things anyway, but, from his place on the Mutant Task Force and as a cop at the ground level, he sometimes sees things they miss. Technically, he shouldn't be sharing such information with civilians but, cop or no cop, Bishop's always done things his own way.

He wears a grey NYPD shirt under a black leather jacket, the bulk of his holster discernible under his shoulder. He's big and broad shouldered, his head shaved and his beard trimmed. He looks around the foyer for a moment as he makes his way downstairs and wonders what it would've been like to grow up in a place like this. The walls he grew up in were thick concrete, topped with razorwire. The M branded over his left eye marks him and he touches it absent-mindedly at the memory.

*

The green haired mutant, Lorna Dane came strolling down the hall, heeled-steel-toed boots clicking against the floor as she strode down the hallway. She twisted around a student or two in passing on the stairwell, at the sight of a man in an NYPD shirt however, she stilled. A blink, eyebrows furrowing as she watched him for a moment from the top of the stairwell before she continued down. She was dressed in a soft lilac blouse, and pair of blue jeans.

"…Uhh, you looking for someone..?" She drawled, coming to a stop at the foot of the staircase as she folded her arms. She figured no regular officer would know where the mansion was, much less get inside.. but the sight of the uniform, 'M' on the man's face or not, gave her pause.

*

Bishop looks up and takes in the green-haired woman with a steady gaze, "No one in particular. I was just dropping off a few files for Summers to look at," he says. He extends a hand, "Lucas Bishop." he says by way of introduction. "I'm not exactly a member of the team, but I lend a hand now and then. Mutants have to stick together, after all," he says, his grip firm and warm.

*

Lorna was a known mutant, quite publicly known in the international news and the alike, no small part in thanks to Magneto and the fiasco from Genosha. She'd been a member of the X-men since she was a teenager, and had a fairly good idea, or at least thought she did, of most resources they had on hand. An NYPD officer, was only a faint rumor to her, but his words and extended hand did a lot of ease the protective knot at the base of her shoulders.

She took the offered hand, shaking it firmly as well, with a careful, cool manner. "Lorna Dane. I can pass the files on for Scott if that's the Summers you mean. We seem to have surplus of them this fall." She joked lightly, exhaling a breath.

*

Bishop knew who she was, but he wasn't the type to show his cards, such as they were. He can feel the energy dormant within her, his own power giving him a taste of hers. "They are a fecund lot," he says. "I just left the files in his inbox. Nothing urgent, just a few basic updates. Strays and stragglers I'm keeping an eye on. It's easy to fall on the wrong side of the law when you're part of a marginalized group. Moreso if you have the power to lash out at your fingertips. I try to intervene early if I see someone falling to temptation." But, of course, he's also just as quick to ruthlessly put a knee in their back if they fall. Bishop doesn't play favorites.

*

Trouble followed Lorna like a shadow, her family was filled with some of the worlds most wanted terrorists, she'd been arrested twice in the course of the last year.. Suffice to say, her run ins with the law and the alike had been trying to say the least. She shrugged, letting her hand fall away, before she shifted folding her arms over her chest. "So long as it's a not right now thing.. Scott has been running around like he usually does." She sighed, her arms falling away as she glanced down the hallway and toward the students that peeked out at them before going on their way. "It's been crazy as usual here.." She glanced back at him, arching a brow upwards.

"I'm sure you heard about the mess with Stark tower and everything?"

*

Bishop nods, "I've heard, although mostly through the news. And I don't trust the news," he says. "Seems messy, to say the least," he says. If Bishop regards her with any suspicion due to her record, he doesn't show it. But, then, he doesn't show much.

"I was just wondering what it must have been like to be a student here. To grow up in this environment. It's a different kind of life," he says.

*

Another shrug and a nod, her hands falling to be shoved into her pants pockets. "We got a fake video implicating Stark in some rather nasty things.. and it went badly to say the least. No one died and it could have gone worse." She fought the urge to sigh. Her siblings had tried to kill Tony, she had tried to save him. The joy of family dramas. She glanced around the entryway as Bishop mentioned wondering what it was like to grow up there and she grimaced faintly.

"It's better than most places, yeah…" She returned her gaze back toward him and reached up to drag a hand through her hair. "I came through the tail end of my high school years here.. wasn't too bad at all. Good food for school food."

*

Bishop grew up on grain rations and hard tac. Bare essentials, handed out as a sop to humanitarian softhearts. If the powers that be had their way, mutants wouldn't be fed at all where he came from. Of course, he enforced those laws often enough. Life in his world was complicated.

"They offered me a chance to stay here, but I…never felt right," he admits. "Too many cushions for me to get comfortable." To the earlier statement, he nods, "Seems like there's a bit of information warfare going on. Hard to sort the wheat from the chaff."

+MEET: Nate Grey has arrived via +meet.

*

A glance around the finery that was the main entryway and Lorna offered a slow nod, "I get that. I personally want to move out, get to Mutant Town and help out there more. With Registration laws looking like they'll pass in some form, people there will be in a bad spot. Being here separates us from the daily shit people have to put up with else where in the world." She pursed her lips together.

"It's great for the kids here, but there are a lot of kids out there that need something else. We can't reach everyone.." She sighed, and shook her head, mostly to herself.

"But Scott wants people close to home… so I'm here. Information wars? Yeah.. that's putting the political climate and manipulations together rather well.."

*

Bishop nods, "Always the first move of tyrants. Control what people see and hear and you can control what they think," he says.

"I'm on the streets of Mutant Town every day. It can be bleak, but it's not as bad as people often think. Lots of mutants live their lives quietly, build the community, try to help one another up. The troublemakers just get the most attention. They like attention. Well, not my attention," he says with a thin smile. "They'd rather hide from me."

*

The sound of incoming steps can be heard as Molly comes rushing into the area before coming to a skidding sop and blinking as she sees Bishop. She looks at him and then at Lorna before looking back at Bishop. She then waves to Lorna, "Hi, Lorna." She steps closer, "And hi." SHe waves at Bishop, "I'm Molly. Who are you?"

*

+MEET: The Stepford Cuckoos has arrived via +meet.

*

A nod of her head, "Information controls perceptions, that's certainly true. Control public perception of people.. and well, it's easy to pass whatever laws you want if there's enough outrage..At least that situation was easily solved. I wish everything else that's a problem could be.." She muttered and bit back the urge to sigh. She considered what else Bishop had to say, green curls spilling over her shoulder as she considered him.

"You mean the Brotherhood likes attention. Or those that wanna be like them anyways." She knew the Brotherhood, she knew members, mostly so she could talk to her half-siblings without having to go through her father. She had avenues and the more or less, trust of several factions in Mutant Town. She'd been walking a grey line between X-men and Brotherhood leaning for the past year, and it had gotten her into trouble countless times with both sides.

Of course anything else she was going to say broke off as Molly came running down the stairs and over to the two. A blink and a grin, and Lorna reached out to muss Molly's hair lightly. "Hey Molly, this is Bishop, he came by to drop some stuff off for Scott. We were just talking about his work in Mutant Town."

*

Nate is also in the streets of Mutant Town every day. He lives there. Well, she has a couple hideouts there, so he 'lives' there as much as he 'lives' at the school. But he does most of his vigilante work around Mutant Town. And yes, he is a troublemaker. Not as bad now as he was a couple years ago, though. But back then the Purifiers were trying to burn the neighborhood down.

Bishop he probably has seen often. At the school, not so much. It is a bit of a surprise to catch the big cop talking to Lorna and about Scott. "Who is hiding from whom?" He asks casually, stepping into the room and giving Lorna a *look*. Because she getting arrested -again- would be almost normal.

*

Bishop smiles, "Nice to meet you, Molly," he says. "I was just dropping off a few files, updating the team on some of the people worth keep an eye on in Mutant Town," he says. His badge shows at the belt on his waist and he's obviously carrying a gun.

To Nate, he nods warily. He respected the work Nate did, even if sometimes the methods were a little maverick for his tastes. But most people were. Bishop was a square peg. "The Brotherhood does like attention. That's what terrorists do. They make a big noise for their cause and they don't care who gets caught in the crossfire."

*

A look over at Nate and Molly waves a little before glancing at Bishop's badge and then looks over at Lorna. She listens and hten frowns, "Yeah, I kina missed them on our last situation." She sighs and then stretches her arms, "I would have liked to help." SHe then looks back to Bishop, "You some kind of cop?" She asks, "I've not seen a lot at the mansion. How you know Scott?"

*

There is a trio of tiny identical blondes now moving through the halls of the mansion, each dressed in a matching skirt suit - charcoal gray jackets and blue blouses, knee length skirts, white stockings, black heels, and an attitude to match. The three fairly petite identical woemn are studying their surroudnings thoughtfully as they roam about, each inspecting some part of the surrounding decor. It must be a terribly engrossing job for them to take it so seriously, and in lockstep.

*

A flap of her hand followed Nate's arrival, and Lorna blinked at his look, her hands rising and falling in a 'what?'. Her expression twisting with a grimace. "I'm not being questioned or arrested Nate, thanks for that vote of confidence." She really should have been questioned sometime in the last few weeks, but lawyers had gotten involved as well as large sums of cash for her act of throwing a bigoted man against the ceiling at a bar.

Funny how those charges went away..

Still, she folded her arms and a fond smile followed Molly's words as she made to loop an arm around the younger mutant's shoulders. "He is a cop, a real one, Molly." She murmured, gaze swinging over the badge, and back up to meet Bishop's gaze. Still, the mention of the Brotherhood again brought a grimace to her lips.

"They care who gets involved. That's part of what they do." She murmured, "Now whether or not that's a good thing is a different matter entirely." She sighed then, her focus shifting at the three blondes that approached. She straightened, "You girls going or or just hanging around today?" She pitched her voice louder so it might carry down the hall toward them from the entryway. Not that it was entirely necessary, given that they were all telepaths.. but still. It was polite.

*

"You are cute when you are flustered, Lorna," replies Nate with a smirk. The arrival of Molly and the trio of blondes makes him take a step back, so he can watch all the newcomers. "Molly," he greets, in a wary tone. The Cuckoos, well, there is this game he plays to try to figure out who they are by their mannerisms and mental signatures before it is no longer polite to greet. Nate sometimes manages, but today he is… not quick enough. "Ladies," he offers, instead.

*

Bishop gives the Cuckoos a wary eye as well, smiling a bit at Molly's cheerful demeanor, "NYPD. I'm a little out of my jurisdiction, but I'm not here on official business," he says. "I'm a mutant and I make it a point to keep in touch with other mutants who try to make the world a better place. And to keep an eye out for the bad ones who cause trouble," he says, playfully pointing at his eyes and then back at Molly.

*

Blinks as the Cuckoos come in. She doesn't often get to see them and smiles a little as she waves, "Hi!" She declares to each and then looks around, "Esme, Phoebe and Sophie." She nods and crosses her arms, totally sure of herself…like she often is. Right or not. She looks then to Bishop and pffts, "I punched the Juggernaut…twice. I'm the best." She nods at him before rolling her eyes and then looking back to Nate, "And don't bring up the latest incident! That guy had it super ocming and could regenerate!

*

"I'm not Phoebe," one of the girls replies, pausing. "I'm Mindee." Then another adds, "For all you know I was Celeste. I'm not, of course. But I borrowed her hair ribbon?" The hair ribbons, for the record, are all the same colour. The girls turn toward the gathering at large and each offers a beatific smile.

"Nathan." An incline of the head toward Nate as the first to greet them. FOllowed by, "Hello, everyone. I see we've been quite busy around here," the center third of the three-in-one calls out in a cheerful, matter-of-fact tone. That must be Sophie for those in the know, given how easily she takes charge. The sister to her right is far more animated. She steps forward toward Lorna with a nod and a deep breath.
"I'm sorry we've been out of touch. It's good to see you. How are you- holding up?" After everything that's happened.

*

A huff and an eye-roll followed Nate's comments, the one she typically reserved for Scott. Perhaps it was now for the Summers and those related one way or another these days. Either way, the 'cute' comment more than earned it. Green eyes returned their focus back to Bishop and Molly, as Lorna followed along with the conversation. "No one is saying that you didn't have every right to punch that guy, he definitely had it coming Molly. You did well." She smiled at the younger woman, her attention sliding back to Bishop. "Molly is quite good at punching things, typically, she punches people and things that otherwise try to hurt her or others." She added.

Her focus returned to the blondes and she inclined her head, particularly toward the one she figured had to be Esme. "I'm alive? It's about all that can be said." Along with her wardrobe upgrade, which was no longer Good Will finds, but rather designer brands with overly pricey tags.

*

Nate uh huhs at Molly.

Beating a guy for destroying a hat is a bit too much even for Nate. Likely the mercenary deserved the beating, but that is not the problem. Brutality is a thing, losing it totally in berserker rage leading to narcolepsy? That is a different beast. Two problems: no control, followed by total helplessness.

But he is going to let Scott have the first shot at Molly. "Maybe we will talk about it the next Danger Room session," he decides, offering a half-smirk to the younger girl.

Lorna he leaves alone. Seeing her siblings trying to murder Tony Stark is no joking matter. Whatever goodwill the twins might have from what Nate remembered before the Omega Event is finally gone.

*

Looking to the Cuckoos, she smiles a little, "Two out of three, I'm sure of it." She nods her head and then looks back at Lorna and simles before looking back at Nate, "He was a big asshole who was helping to do asshole things AND he burned my expensive custom gloves and hat!" She says and her eyes glow just a bit as she clenches her fist. Nate and the Cuckoos can clearly feel the use of Molly's power even as she glares before she stops and rolls her eyes, "Don't belittle me, Nate." She then shakes her head, "I'm done here. I'll see you all later." She then walks past everyone and pushes out the door unless halted.

*

"I didn't think you would be," Esme admits. She breathes a soft sigh and then moves to stand beside Lorna while the rest of Cuckoos are orienting themselves firmly on Nate. They blink as they bear witness to Molly storming off.
In unison the girls say, "Well. She seeems to be in a bad mood today. Hope the insurance is up-to-date." Then the Cuckoos give a light shrug and each take a deep breath.
"This place could use some new decor," Mindee murmurs after a moment. "Do they ever change the drapes around here? Maybe we could use some more light…"

*

A look was shot Nate's way, it wasn't entirely disapproving, Molly did have endurance issues.. But Lorna had seen her put up a fight in a cage match with Armor and hold her own for a good amount of time. She'd disapproved of the cage match, but thought the girls had handled themselves well enough. (For an illegal cage match that is) Molly's storming off, and Bishop's departure earned a sigh from the green haired mutant as she made to follow after the upset younger mutant. Green eyes flickering back toward Esme and she grimaced, fighting off the crushing weight of everything that she'd rather not think about as best she could. Few people seemed to truly understand just how fragile Lorna's mental state was currently.

"Molly—Molly, hold up." She called, a wave of her hand magnetically sealing the door shut should the young woman make to flee still despite Lorna's calls.

*

"Eh, if she wants to join the main team she needs to get her shit together," replies Nate. Usually easygoing, but merciless when real combat issues are brought in. "Just like everyone else," himself included. He was pretty bad at Molly's age. But he also had considerably more combat experience.

Mindee comment makes him chuckle, though. "Yes. I mean, I think they they got changed after that giant bear hit us last winter. But they look pretty much the same. Go ahead and find nicer ones."

Jean will likely welcome the change. And Xavier is barely here anymore. He is not the kind of guy that pays attention to the drapes, anyway.

*

When the door won't budge, there's a creaking sound that follows even as she grips the door. Without even turning on her powers Molly can still move a few tons. She grinds her teeth a little and then looks back at Lorna with a frown before looking to Nate, "I need to get my shit together?!" She gestures at Nate, "I have seen how some of the 'big' names act. Hell! What the heck was that last thing? You guys brought the Hulk in and hell, we have the Hulk, living here!" She gestures, "Right here! With us! Don't you think I'd like to know that? We'd all like to know that!"

She points at Nate, "You need to get your shit together." She then looks at Lorna, "Either let go of the door or I go through it."

*

Esme watches as Lorna takes off and hesitates. She doesn't say a word but still keeps a close on her friend. Mindee nods when Nate suggests fidning drapes and then taps a finger against her jaw as she looks about with a critical eye. "That is exactly what we are going to do," she affirms.

Sophie shakes her head but seems content o let her sisters go back and forth, though that puts her in the spoot surveying the room from a half step to Mindee's right. Ultimately, Sophie turns and slowlyw alks up to Esme. She palces a gnetle hand on her issters shoulder and draws her back toward Mindee.

"So… Nathan. What coulour would yo ulike to seei nhere?" The question might be a distraction but Mindeeds to be taking it fairly serious.

*

The green haired mutant made no moves to release the door, at least, not until she'd stepped up closer to Molly, and reached out to settle her hands on the younger woman's shoulders. She shot Nate only the briefest of warning looks, her lips pursed together as she leaned forward to put her figure entirely into Molly's line of sight, hoping to otherwise block out the sight of Nate just behind her.

"Molly. Molly. Hey. Listen to me. Nate has nothing to do with the Hulk. That's Scott's call, he's the man in charge. Okay? He has a point that you need to train, we all do. It's an ongoing thing. You did amazing before. I've seen you. Alright? I know you can do better still, and I have every faith that you will. I'm here for you. I've helped run Danger Room sessions for you, and seen you face down guys a whole lot tougher and stronger than you. You're brave, and you're learning. That's okay. We all are." She kept her voice low, and calm as she could manage, trying to keep Molly's attention focused on her.

Perhaps Lorna had fallen into a more 'mothering' roll as of late to the various younger students. Particularly the ones with anger issues. Ones that watched the world around them and wanted to do more than was strictly approved by the X-men. Perhaps it had to do with her having to give up her daughter. Perhaps it was a sign of her own leanings.

*

"Lorna is right." Yes, Hulk too need some… work. Why did Scott bring him in if he is so careless? Rachel was irritated too. Hope was injured. But Hulk being Hulk does not excuse Molly to be Hulk-like, so Nate shakes his head at the young girl outburst.

Not a good moment to talk about it. Scott is better… no, he is not. JEAN is better at this.

Lorna is… not bad. Color him surprised.

"Call me Nate," he says, turning his attention to the blondes. "Nathan is the other guy. The old one with the oversized guns. My twin brother from a parallel timeline, I suppose." It is a thing in the Summers family.

Mindee's question makes him grin. "Actually, what would -you- like to see. Let me apply some telekinetic trickery and we save a trip to IKEA."

*

A look past Lorna at the Cuckoos a moment and then she has Lorna all in her way. She stares at her and then says, "Maybe but I'm sick of being treated like I'm still some fresh kid." She nods her head, "I've heard about what you guys do, what you guys have been up to." She nods her head, "Don't think news doesn't travel around here." She gestures around, "I get told to go full out, I do. He knows full well what going full out means for me and I do it anyway. I end up passing out. Suddenly I need to train more." She nods her head, "WE come across some burning super strength jerk, so I put it on him. He burns me, my new gauntlets and my hat so I put it on him harder. Not my fault Nate decided to turn him into a punching bag!" She yells and then shakes her head and takes a deep breath before saying, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta go walk some goats for a god."

*

Lorna's lips pursed and she stepped back as let Molly speaks, the door popping open with a mere thought. "I don't think you did anything beyond what you should have done back there Molly, you had every right to do what you did. I don't judge you for it. I've brought you with me for things, have I not? I trust you to have my back. Training is something I do every day. And you're more than welcome to join me whenever you want." She murmured, her hands falling back to her sides.

She sighed, letting the younger woman go as she wanted. Green eyes flickering back toward Nate and the Cuckoos with a drawn expression. Whatever Lorna's previous intent had been to go out earlier had died, and instead all that remained was a faintly distressed look. She averted her gaze, offering a curt nod to the telepaths that remained as she made to go back up to the stairs to her room (the one Rogue had most recently vacated.) "I'll see you all around. Esme, if you want to go out later, you know where to find me."

*

"Nate then," Mindee concedes, nodding slowly. She arches a brow whe nnate offers to solce her problem. "Very well… I'd love to see what burgundy would look like? And perhaps we can try royal blue as welll…?" Mindee is going to start making suggestions anddirections. Nate did offer to help, right?
Meanwhile Esme shakes her head and brielfy exchanges a glance with Sophie, who nods. They both seem to be keeping half an eye on Lorna and Molly, but for now they are content to listen to the conversation. Then Lorna is taking off and all three Cuckoos turn to face her before bowing their heads.
"So, Nate. How did you feel about eggshell…?" Mindee returns to discussing decorations while Esme just nods.
"I'll graby ou later, Lorna. We can hit the town."
