Fade In…

Aurora was free of the incubator that had kept her alive for the past several months. A fully developed, chubby, blue haired infant. And her arrival into the world had been shocking, quite literally, to the X-mansion. Nearly all the electronics in the wing where Lorna and Marcos had taken over a room had suffered some kind of an electrical power surge. But it had all been more or less contained thanks to the combined efforts of Aurora's parents and Nate.

Still, it didn't make raising an infant with strong electrostatic powers any easier.

Lorna was walking by the rec room, Aurora bundled up in a sling around her chest as the infant dropped the little rubber ball she'd been clutching. A sigh pulled from the exhausted green haired mutant's lips and Lorna was moving into the rec room to grab it. It was late, and as usual, the baby Aurora didn't quite confirm to normal bed time hours. Lorna's insomnia becoming even worse, now that she had to get up constantly for heated bottles.. Of course, it helped that Marcos could heat things via his powers.. but he was also taking odd jobs to buy things. Mowing lawns in the neighborhood and literally anything else the man could get a hold of to support Lorna and Aurora..

Not that Lorna accepted the money. She had plenty thanks to her mother and well.. Magneto. Though one could hardly fault Marcos for not accepting those funds.

Remy is once more in the rec room with his feet propped up on the coffee table in front of the couch he's spawled deeply into. The ball dropping and the sigh from the woman behind causes him to turn his head and push up with his shoulders and back in order to look over the back of the couch.

"Ah, it's ya again." The cajun says before he lifts the drink he was clutching off his belly to take a sip from the tumbler. "Whatcha doin' walkin' aroun wit' t'at t'in'?" He asks teasingly towards Lorna in reference to her baby.

*

+MEET: Molly Hayes has arrived via +meet.

*

Lorna snorted as she picked up the ball and tucked it back into the sling for little Aurora to coo over. Not that the infant had much in terms of physical capabilities to hold the thing at this point. She was still more or less a newborn. The green haired mutant raised a brow as she stepped into the room, casting her gaze to Remy with a raised brow. "My daughter is not a thing, you know." She drawled and settled onto the couch beside Remy.

She slowly reached up to unclip the sling, and settle Aurora more firmly in her grip.

Wide brown eyes and a mop of blue hair were the most distinct features of the baby, while she coo'ed over the rubber ball in her chubby grip.

"She's a bit too young to really learn language.. But Nate did a mind link with her."

*

It was Remy's turn to then cock his own eyebrow at Lorna, "You sure dat's such a good idea?" The thief asks as he reaches a free hand to grab the tv remote and turn down the volume on the cheesey old horror flick he had on, making sure the conversation is the important subject at this moment.

"An' ah mean, she /is/ a t'in', but Ah gotcha." He winks. The man takes another sip of his drink and looks over towards the mother and babe before he asks aloud, "Wonda where dhe hair colah came from…" Before "What did Nate gleam offa dhe poor chil'?"

*

Lorna gave Remy a look, still settling the quiet (for now) infant against her as she leaned back against the couch pillows more firmly. "Nate thought it was the best option to try to calm her down. He connected Marcos' and I's minds with her's. I mean, Jean already had done it once.. and well, she doesn't know words? She knows vague impressions. Her mind is still developing after all.." She smiled down at Aurora and then glanced back to Remy, her fingers stroking over blue locks.

"I'm pretty sure the hair color is something that runs in my family. My father and brother have white hair. I have green.. I think it has something to do with the melanin in our hair and what not. Some kind of a secondary mutation." She answered the question plainly, as if Remy honestly had no idea where the strange hair color came from.

*

"Mutation, sure." He knew the answer, but dang if it wasn't annoying when they just get 'different' colored hair when some people like him and others much worse off get more and more drastic mutations. "So ya named 'er 'Rora? Ah'm sure Storm won' get confused at all by dat." The manchild says with a smirk before he looks down at the kid much more thuroughly. "She's a pretty baby. Mus' get dat from 'er mot'ah."

*

Skipping into the room, Molly grins as she has on a pair of red gloves and blinks as she looks over at the others, "Oh! Hi!" She then comes walking over with a grin as she looks down at the baby, "Hi, baby Aurora!" She says enthusiastically and waves at the baby before looking up to Remy and then at Lorna, "What's up?" She hmms as she looks from one to the other.

*

Lorna snorted, rolling her eyes. "She manifested before she was even born. Was totally trashing my powers. Course.. now that makes perfect sense.. She turned me into an electro-magnetic batter." She muttered, squinting down at her baby and poking Aurora's little nose as the baby wiggled and coo'ed, dropping the little ball. Of course, Lorna's gaze swung back to Remy and she rolled her eyes.

"We named her Aurora because when Marcos and I touch, his solar powers interact with my magnetosphere and it creates a localized Aurora borelais. That's why the name.. course I never stopped to consider that she'd take after a geomagnetic electrical storm.." She grumbled. A faint flush crossed her cheeks at Remy's complement and she rolled her eyes.

Which is when Molly came into the room. The green haired woman smiled at Molly, and patted the seat that was free beside her. "Hey Molly. I was just taking break. Aurora is surprisingly heavy and rather demanding.."

*

"Yeah, Ah don' doubt it." The cajun reports before he takes another sip and turns his red eyes towards Molly. "It's a school night and ya up dis late… Yeah Ah really don' care, ya kids do ya own t'in' anyways." He says with a horizontal shrug. Based on how deep he's seated on the couch.

"We're jus' sittin' 'ere havin' baby talk and Ah'm listenin' t' mot'ah an' babe coo at each ot'er and say how much dey love dey daddah. It's revoltin'." The possibly jealous Remy explains to Molly.

*

A look to Lorna and she grins, "Nah, don't have time to sit!" She nods her head and looks at her gloves, "I'm planning my costume!" She nods again before looking over to Remy and adds, "As for you, I graduated…or well, I'll be graduating anyway and all this last week or so of school is stupid and pointless. I'm gonna pass no matter what and also…" She points at him, "I punched the Juggernaut so I really doubt I need a lot more right now." She then grins at her gloves and takes a step back, "Gotta find a white cape next…"

*

Lorna rolled her eyes at Remy, and snorted. "I haven't said anything that sickening. C'mon." She grumped, and a bottle cap came flying from the end table to thwack at Remy in response. She smirked before turning her focus toward Molly with a tilt of her head.

"Wait, wait, slow down. You're working on your costume this late at night.. and punched Juggernaut… uhm.. okay. Wait. Why were you running into Cain Marko, Molly? Was this that thing you talked to me about before, or another time you punched him… because if this is incident number two, you really need to find a better dance partner."

*

"Ya talked t'her about it befo'e ya talked t'me?" Remy asks, looking over at Molly with a frown on his southern face. "Oh you might as well have been." Remy says as he moves his hand to rub at his forehead where the bottle cap was launched at him.

*

A look over at Lorna and she shrugs, "It wasn't a new one but I did run into him again." She looks over at Remy and grins, "What? I thought everyone knew, Storm did it!" She nods her head, "She told me to hit him. I did…" She shrugged, "And then…umm, well, we kinda left a crater in front of Harry's and umm…" She shrugs a little and then clears her throat, "Hey! I didn't even hit him as hard as I could. Not my fault!" She then looks over at him, "And you weren't really around at the time." She then looks over at the gloves again and then nods to Lorna, "I got an idea from a show for the costume so I wanted to see what I could find!"

*

A dry look was cast Remy's way and Lorna shook her head, and then with a scoot, and a careful lifting of her baby. Promptly made to pass Aurora off to the cajun. "Hold her for a second, will you? I gotta help Molly." She would then promptly stand and stretch, flashing Molly a grin as she settled her hands on her hips.

"Right, that's the fabric you want to use? Let me lace it with some metal fibers. Make the material tougher so that it can take as much damage as you can and help keep you alive." She reached out with her fingers, wiggling them in offer.

"Tell me what you want, I can make it whatever you want. Metal fibers are surprisingly great for costumes."

*

Suddenly Remy is sitting slunched so deep it's more accurate to say he's laying down on the couch and coffee table, but he's got a baby in his hands, with his grip beneath her chubby arms and those tiny legs are on his ribs as he's looking up at her confused on what to do with the child. "Uuuh, dere dere 'rora. Mommah's commin' back soon cause she shouldn' trus' us toget'ah. No she shouldn'."

*

A blink and she grins at Lorna, "That's cool!" She nods her head, "And these gloves are what I'm doing." She points at them, "They're the start. I'm also gonna get a yellow top and maybe some pants like that, too. Red boots and I'm thinking a white cape!" She nods her head, "I am not completely sold but I'm considering things." She then points at her gloves briefly, "They won't be all made out of this."

She then looks over at Remy with a wide grin, "Yeah, I kinda ran into him again recently and he wants to try to convince me to go breakin' stuff with him."

*

Aurora gurgled curiously at being passed to a stranger. Chubby baby frame pillowed against Remy's hands. She wiggled slightly, not entirely able to do much yet. Large, dark brown eyes, glanced at her mother's figure before back at Remy. Then a high pitched, happy noise followed and she bounced slightly on the cajun's chest. Lorna for her part only glanced at Remy side ways.

"Oh please. You're hardly going anywhere just this second. You can hold Aurora for five minutes without the world exploding." She drawled and then nodded to Molly. A look of concentration followed over her and with a gesture of her hand in a near imperial manner, a shimmer followed in the air. Tiny, tiny, micro-sized bits of metal came sailing from somewhere outside and swirled around with green magnetics. It twisted in the air before settling like a coating over the gloves that Molly wore. Another gesture and it seemed to meld to the gloves and vanish.

Though there was an added weight to them now.

"There. It's a start. Get the rest of what you want and I can line it. It's all on the molecular level. So it doesn't impact the fibers all that much."

*

"Ya momma never made mah clothes bettah o'strongah. No she didn'." Remy says to Aurora, who he's helping bounce, just a little bit yeah before he looks up to the two heroines. "Ya shouldn' be breakin' stuff Molly. Dat's not a very x-men thin' t'do." Yeah she's not an x-man, but maybe some day. Maybe?

*

A look over and she points at Remy, "Not on purpose, no but ya can't tell me you guys don't break stuff. I've seen some of the tapes." She nods her head, "And I should be an X-Man, ya know. I did, after all, punch Juggernaut." She nods sagely and then looks at Remy, "Of course, Mr. Summers said I'd need to get a costume before I could…" She nods her head.

She says this while Lorna does her work and flexes the gloves a little. If she noticed the weight, the girl didn't show it. She looks at them carefully and grins, "This ought to hold up for a while pretty well." She nods her head, "I mean, not forever but definitely tougher I bet."

*

Lorna shot a look to Remy over her shoulder and snorted. "That's because Remy doesn't need to take a hit and keep going. Remy needs to avoid hits." She drawled back and looked to Molly with a grin, pleased with her work and carefully folding her arms over her waist. "Don't go wearing them if you have to fight some sort of a magnokinetic, but it's armor that will hold up against practically anything else. It's my personal mix of alloys. Lighter than just steel and stronger. It should at least give you a little more durability than just cloth." She smirked and then shrugged lightly.

"Scott pulled the same with me. First it was a costume, then it was a name. You've got time Molly. Don't worry about that. There'll be plenty for you to smash up. I'm sure." She glanced toward Aurora then, noticing a suddenly unhappy look on her daughter's features and she moved quickly to pluck the infant up into her arms.

"Well, I think someone needs to be checked over. Don't you?" She murmured, rocking Aurora gently in her arms. There was a gentle spark of static in Lorna's hair, but that was all. Green eyes lifted to glance at the others and she smiled. "We'll see you guys around." She murmured and strode off quickly to try to vacate the public space with an irritated baby in her arms.

*

Remy's new friend is snatched away by her mother and he's left on the couch alone again. "Moll, ya makin' ya own costume instead o'usin' one o'dhe team ones? Ah like dat? Ah wear mah own t'in' too. Looks way bettah dan everyone else's." He says with a playful wink.

*

A grin and she nods her head, "I really enjoy the idea of working on my own costume." She nods her head, "I'm not a huge fan of just wearing what everyone else does so…I, well, I am kinda basing it on a show I like so." She shrugs and then looks at her gloves, "I am thinking I'm gonna update it a bit though."

*

"Is it one'a dem japanese affairs wit' all dhe crazy colors an horrid color scheme plannin'?" The thief asks as he drops his feet to the floor and stands up before turning to look at Molly, "Costumes, unless functional, ain't really all dat important, as long as ya team knows it quicklah."

*

A glance at Remy and she looks at him suspiciously, "It's…uh, functional." She nods her head and then shifts in her spot a little, "And what if it is one of those japanese affairs?" She asks and then looks back at her gloves, "Besides…I like it and isn't that all that matters." She then looks off to the side, "I guess if you are going to try to curb my natural creativity maybe I should go hang out with the Juggernaut…" She speaks wistfully and stares into the distance.

*

Remy's suddenly close to his student and is messing up her hair. "You can dress up however ya want." The cajun says with a smirk before he drops his hand to his side and starts to move towards the door. "Ah think sleep is finally callin' mah name. Ya doin' great Moll."

*

A grin back at Remy and she nods, "Thanks…but hey! We need to train mroe sometime. Some of these people are really fast and I need to get faster." She looks down at herself and then up at him, "And I just know if I concentrate hard enough I will."

*

"We will Moll. We will." Remy says simply as he slips out of the room. "Good nigh'."
