Fade In…

Orm's figure stands in the Major's quarters, his face hidden away behind his helm, "She waits, what for I do not know, while our King lays dead and the surfacers ignore our demands. I fear what other horrors inaction may bring against us… But I have said to much." the watery man turns to eye the Major with a sad expression, "I will see you again soon Iono, perhaps then she will have found her spine." then the image wavers and falls apart as the Sending is canceled. The Major's hand clenches the arm of his chair, his jaw buldging as he stares at the place his Prince once stood. He eyes his XO, "How are the me-" the rocks ever so slightly and the Major's brow knits, "Report." he snaps to one of the bridge crew.

"We've been struck by some sort of… weapon. Minimal damage, no casualties." he pours over the reports coming in, "It was a torpedo sir." Iono's eyes narrow to slits, "Hitham, prepare the men. I do not share the Queen's cowardice and we have been fired upon. It is time to go to war." Claxon's sound and men begin rushing about. Most of them with smiles

Since the cloud cover and it's accompanying spits of snow, not many people have bothered coming to Metropolis beach. Not even to walk. The dark is unnatural, the tempatures this winter are colder then usual, and of course there's the over all tension everyone feels from the Atlantean announcement a week ago. It's likely the only reason no one is there to remark when heads of armored men break the crashing surf, cresting from the waves in perfect rows, ignoring the waters power as they march unimpeded towards dry land.

Well. It's been a rough time, between all that's gone on. Rain has decided to check out some new places and keep herself busy. Plus, she has been worrying about the Atlanteans a little. Maybe more than that. Since it's not likely to be crowded, it's the perfect time to explore around, enjoy some quiet and watch Captain bother tide pool critters. "CRAB. CRAAAAAAAB!" Ruuuuun! He flees the snappy crustacean, tail high in the air. A red crab comes snapping after.

"Well, you poked him first." "Woman, help me!" Clackclack. Rain laughs a little, and moves to catch the crab, and to set it back into a tide pool. But then, there's - dudes? Dudes coming from the sea. Captain jogs back over to Rain.

"… I thought it was supposed to /rain/ men," He considers. The witch looks a bit worried. "I - don't think they're here for karaoke…" She pulls her flying broomstick and hops on. Captain hops onto the back. Aerial scouting! Because a trident to the face is bad.

***

Zee really doesn't get to Metropolis all that often but today, she's been meeting with her business managers and owners of venues that might host her show. It wasn't overly successful and the teen mage has gone for a walk near the said beach, despite the inclement conditions, to mull things over.

It's actually Rain, taking off on the broom that catches Zee's attention first, then the men rising from ocean. "Oh good." she mutters to herself… putting her earphone in, Zee activates the teamspeak app the Titans use to contact Rain. "Heya, Rain. It's Zee. I'm on the beach… just saw you take off. What are you seeing."

Dressed in a smart business suit, Zee is wearing a long woolen coat over the top, and the diamond collar. With a murmurmed word, the outfit morphs to her stage costume: unitard, swallow coat, fishnet stockings, thigh high boots and top hat (How she doesn't freeze, she has no idea).

***

Kara is presently flying high above the area, on patrol as a recruit of the JL:A looking out for potential trouble. Since she was supposed to have some association to Superman, it seemed best to send her out on patrol over Metropolis; what she didn't want to say is that she wasn't sure the man claiming to be Superman was really him.

She had nobody to admit it to, but she was a little nervous out here alone between Zuperman and Green Lanterns that were sometimes spotted around the city.

Spying something on the beach she flies down a little closer for a look, spotting the strange soldiers marching out of the water, muttering to herself, "OH! Like that's normal."

Using an earpiece she attempts to communicate with The Watchtower, "This is Kara, I'm over Metropolis and I just spotted something really weird coming from the—-" She pauses, "Oh great, this thing isn't even transmitting." Whether it was jammed or she didn't know how to use it was anyone's guess. Oh look, there's Rain on her broom, she waves and calls out, "Hey, any idea what's going on down there?"

***

Spearhead is on the beach in the treeline, looking for a lead on his prodigal brother, when he hears something odd in the change of the waves and looks over, "well, thats not something you see /every/ day."

***

No, no it is not something you see everyday. Or ever. The ranks of soldiers, because that's clearly what they are, step from the waves wearing armor that seems to have grown on them more then worn, it's rough abrasive surface looks hard, almost rock like in places, and in other's it's as smooth as glass, the play textures creating a rather fetching design. Light glow softly from inside the breastplates, and the helms that cover their faces are horned in some cases, finned in others, hiding their features. Heavily armed they seem to carry large rifles with ease, and each carries at least two edged weapons hanging from their belts, spears of one kind or another seem the most popular choice by far. As they breach the surf they begin to spread out, rifles shouldered and scanning. <Contact> one says in Atlantean and others near him turn.

The sand at Zatanna's feet explodes around her and the force of the impact causes the ground beneath her feet to heave suddenly upward creating a beachy gyser. Two hundred yards away the Atlantean adjusts his aim ever so slightly and fires again. The energy cased hardwater round hums past Zee so fast all she can see is the vapor trail left in it's wake and the spray of sand on her back from where it cratered into the earth somewhere behind her. Rain draws her own attention as a pair of soldiers begin firing her way as well. Used to fighting underwater where all combat is 360 degrees, it would seem they're suited to keeping an eye on the skies for threats.

***

Rain pauses, moving to respond. "Soldier-looking helmets coming out of the sea. I think it's sea guys? I'm not sure… We can give you a lift." She didn't want to be right there when they - oh dear, Z. And then someone waves and calls out. Rain waves back, "No idea! Looks like guys in armor, maybe? But I don't think they're here for a RenFaire," She considers. "I'm hoping they aren't sporting for a fight."

Either way, Rain's eeps as she's shot at. "I'd offer to pick you up - but we're under fire, too." If Z wants, Rain will try to scoop her up onto the broomstick. It beats the geysers? Maybe? The offer's there, else she'll stick to avoiding fire and Captain clings to her jacket. Combat Cat(TM).

She doesn't notice Spearhead, although one might forgive her. She has to steady herself a moment. Concentrate, concentrate. She's going to try to turn one into a newt since talking seems out. "Hey! Stop! We don't want to fight!" Pause. "I suspect this is a fight then talk thing." Sigh. At least there's no tentacles. It's a step up from the usual. Go team!

***

Zee stumbles as the sand geysers, one knee touching the ground before she straightens and regains her balance. It takes a few moments for her to focus on the Atlantean and she winces as the spray of the sand hits her. Eyes narrowing, the Mistress of Magic of focusses on the Atlantean shooting at her, raises a hand and speaks:

~ dnaS yruB mehT ~

Without waiting to see whether her spell takes or not, Zee dodges for cover if she can find some.

"Thanks for the offer, Rain, but I think we'd be asking for more trouble." She's noticed Kara, but not Spearhead…. But she's a tad preoccupied to offer anymore greetings right now.

***

The soldiers made a mistake in ignoring her, Kara becomes filled with anger at the unprovoked attacks upon Zee and Rain, crying out, "Who do you frogmen think you are?" Kara dive-bombs towards the group of soldiers, red beams of energy shooting from her eyes directly towards them; aimed mostly at their weapons as she can catch sight.

Spearhead Sees the water-men fire and hits the sand, pulling the parts of his marksman rifle out, assembleing the barrel onto the rest of it and deploying the monopod and sighting in on one of the soldiers, "Walking out of the sea, shoot first ask questions later… Don't think their here on parade." He says before aiming up on one of the ranks elbow, the one carrying his rifle, and letting loose a round, "This should slow you down a tad."

***

One of the Atlanteans stumbles and the lights in his armor flare. He grunts and goes down, writhing on the sand for a moment as two of his fellow soldiers grip his armor and pull him to the back of the formation, the soldiers around them making way without sacrificing their aim. They are very well coordinated, trained. He doesn't become a newt, but it appears he's out of the fight for a bit. The left flank of soldiers is suddenly cast in shadow as a tidal wave made of the beach itself rises up and engulfs the soldiers. There are cries of astonishment as several go under the wave, but a good deal that should have been buried scurry out of the way moving in hard to follow blurs of darting motion. They are /fast/. The scrambling soldiers all fire wild shots Zee's way, covering their scramble while a few get to trying to dig out their comrads. The beach around the magician begins to look as if it's being peppered with artilery shells from the force of the not-so-aimed shots.

Spearhead's bullet hits with enough force to force one of the soldiers into a quarter spin, and his arm drops to his side cradled there by his other. He stumbles out of line for a moment and goes to a knee, blood flowing down his armor. The breastplate flashes once and the soldiers stands once more and shakes his head as if clearing it. Kara's heat vision has the effect of causes Atlanteans to dive out of the way, a few drop their rifles and immediatly draw their melee weapons as if the reaction trained into them so long they'd forgotten they were doing it. Her impact is like a pebble in a placcid pond, a ripple of sand extends outward from where she hit, tossing soldiers into the air like rag dolls.

***

Well. That's not good. Rain hesitates a second. She does feel kind of bad for the guy, but less so once firing resumes. And then there's sand. That's kind of impressive. A lot impressive, actually. "Zee!" That's also not good. She at least has the advantage(?) of flight. And then there's some guy with a gun that has some serious firepower. Kara gets a blink. Rain eeps, though, her shoulder likely getting brushed by fire. It's a graze wound, but it's enough to make her wobble and back off a bit. These are good soldiers, after all.

She lowers herself a bit. Witches used to draw down the moon, and while there's no moon - she's not really sure where she's going with this, but maybe a bolt of lightning will do? She has to concentrate, looking serene despite the angry, stingy wound (So stingy!). One more like that and it's probably going to come to gun magic. Nevertheless, a single bolt of lightning reaches from the heavens to reach out and say hello to a soldier. Hi! ZZZZZZZZZT! Captain is clinging for dear life and thanks to the ions in the air, now looking like he got run through a dryer cycle. Poof'd cat.

***

The problem with not-so-aimed shots, is they can still hit… and at least one grazes Zee's arm causing her to wince in pain and stumble. Recovering her balance, *again*, in time to see Rain call that lightning bolt and Zee grins, almost like a cheshire cat, "Nice job Rain, I can use that…."

~ gninthgiL elbasiD mehT ~

Zee only aims to disable the Atlanteans, she really doesn't want to kill as she directs and tries to split the lightning lightning to the left flank of soldiers. Then with a murmur she disappears to reappear on the other side of that same flank…. she'll try to make her own cover, just please Spearhead… don't shoot her..

***

Kara stands up from the kneeling position she was in when she hit the ground, her eyes fading back to their normal color from the brilliant red they were just moments ago, "Do you guys seriously want to get smacked around?"

The young woman drops into a Kryptonian fighting stance and punches towards the first soldier with a hard hit if it connects. Her cape swirls around her as she kicks towards the soldier on her left with a roundhouse.

She's fighting recklessly and with anger, so it's likely she's going to be leaving plenty of openings for the enemies.

***

Spearhead startles when the sand starts to surge, but as soon as it buries the marching troops, he breathes a sigh of relief and takes aim one again, this time aiming at the soldiers neck, for a least leathal shot, he would have hit the other arm, but that didn't seem to stop him the last time…

***

KRA-KOOM!! The lightning aimed for a single man forks at the last second and lances out into a spiderweb of connecting arcs of lightly. Atlanteans stiffen and jerk, steam rising from their armor and sand melting beneath their feet into glass. After a split second of stiffness, they go flying, knocked hither and yon. Zee's spell to 'disable' them might have been meant to lessen the impact of a lightning bolt, but that isn't how Magic saw it. She told it to disable magically armored superhumans, and so it didn't lessen the voltage. It turned it up. Exponentially. The beach glows in little puddles of melted glass and the bodies of a dozen smokeing soldiers lay sprawled amid the bead, blackened circles on their armor where the bolts passed through them. This has the added benefit of effectively drawing the attention every Atlantean on that flank straight to Rain, the visual source of the lightning bolt. A trio of the Atlanteans simply leap upward, the jumps carrying them through the air with ease, fifty, sixty feet, one of them launches a spear at her so hard it's passing creates minor windshear. Another small group of Atlanteans zero in on Zee, one of them turns an oddly larger barrel weapon her way and fires an odd canister thing. It breaks appart before it even reaches her and the air is suddenly filled with hundreds of barbed needle like spines the length of her palm.

Spearhead's second round stops the soldier just as he's turning back to the fight and raising his weapon one handed, the bullet sneaking in just under the helmet's lip. There's a fountain of blood and the Atlantean stumbles a pair of steps. He turns then, looking straight back along the path of the bullet, following it's tradjectory. His rifles gets about half way up before he topples over dead.

These are not men. It's clear when Kara's first punch is dodged. DODGED, but a man in full armor who ducks beneath it and counters by running his shoulder into her stomach in a tackle. Shockingly… he moves her. He's heavier then he has any right to be, stronger too. Her kick catches an Atlantean in his hip and sends him airborne, spinning away from her over a hundred feet, but the opening is to easy a target for the others and Kara witnesses that rarest of Kryptonian experiences. The sight of her own blood as one of the bladed weapons, a cestus style punching knife hits her leg and skitters over her skin before snapping off at the hilt. Still, she can feel the sting as the blade broke her skin, a tiny cut that wells with a single drop of blood. The sight of the blood encites a frenzy, and giving up on form Atlanteans simply leap upon her, weapons rising and falling with heavy thudding blows as they try to kill the Kryptonian.

Off shore the water surges, a large wave heads for the beach, and somewhere below human hearing comes an ominious sound, like a horn blowing, as a whale, majestic in the best of time, crests the waters and… then… above them? Armored like a ship it's larger then any whale recorded by surface science, it floats up through the water and into the air, mounted gun platforms bristle from it's back and sides, Atlanteans run along it's surface, as if it were an aircraft carrier, shouting orders and scrambling the last minute preperations for an all out assault.

***

Back in Atlantis…

Mera is indeed sitting and waiting. She's waiting for some indication that she can STOP the mobilization of the armies. She's already worrying that it's too late, and one wrong move from either side will start a skirmish that will result in the type of world that Rowan came from. A world of unending war. She doesn't want that.

Abruptly, a seemingly regular looking entry enters and tells her that violence has been reported, and that Orm or one of his generals ordered a preliminary assault on a Surface coastline. Mera surges to her feet and rushes toward the guard. "Take me there! Now!" They both race out to see, and as soon as Mera has confirmation she sets out for the surface.

Atlantean technology makes the journey the matter of just a few moments, and she arrives at the surface just in time to see one of the giant Atlantean War Machines encroaching on the beach where a handful of Surfacers try to keep the foot soldiers at bay. Using a column of water to lift herself high enough to be seen by everyone nearby, Mera raises her husband's Trident and yells both verbally and mentally. She's practiced projecting her telepathy, but never really had to use it before, not to this degree.

"ENOUGH!!"

It's entirely possible that her telepathic command was intense enough to be heard all the way in Westchester, NY.

If any Atlantean so much as leans slightly toward any of the Surfacers after that shout, a small cohesive-water projectile will knock their helmet a good one as a reminder that their Queen has spoken.

***

Rain doesn't want to kill the Atlanteans, either. "Thanks. I think - we made them - upset." That's an understatement. Almost English levels of understatement, even. Suddenly, she's more popular than free hamburgers and milkshakes. "Oh. Oh shit." "I think I'm gonna wet myself," Captain admits. "Hey, maybe-" No, no time for thinking. Now is the time for a most brave advance to the rear.

"I'M SORRY! STOP TRYING TO KILL US, PLEASE!" She's kind of brave. A lot of brave, sometimes, even. But she also has the deep seated flaw of being a cowardice. And now they're jumping at her. This bites. It really does. She was just trying to quietly mend her spirits and now she's trying to avoid some dude's spear in her face. And internal organs. While she avoids horrible death, Being jumped at and such is definitely going to knock her off out of the air. She clings to her broom, while Captain hangs on for dear life on her shoulders. Then, a soft pair of words in Latin. Anyone who can figure that out might translate it roughly as 'Remake the beast'.

Rain quietly hopes whatever spirit animal she gets is useful.

***

Karma finally takes pity on Rain. She's just turned into a Siberian god bear, with fur as white as snow beneath the moonlight and glowing violet eyes. Captain utters this battle cry, "YEEEHAW! RIDE THE BEAR!" Patpatpat with a paw. And now they have an angry, large bear in their midst. Bite, bite, claw, BEAR! Whatever they do will hurt, but it won't hurt a Siberian God Bear as much as it would a soft, squishy Rain.

And wait. Is that - her highness? The bear stops. Looks innocent.

***

She missed? Kara is surprised long enough to take the blow in the stomach, the force enough to take the breath from her lungs. Sure her kick hit, but then she was cut, she had never been cut since arriving on Earth; hurt but never truly injured. The eighteen year old cries out in pain, "Ahhhhh!"

She's panicking now, her fists swinging wildly as the Atlanteans start to dogpile her, "Get off of me you stupid sea men!!" She's down though beneath what looks like a large group of those crazy powerful Atlanteans. She had now found her number one thing on Earth she hated, Sea Men; men who came from the sea; hopefully someone corrected her on the name one day.

She keeps attacking wildly with her superhuman strength, small cries of pain escaping her lips as she's bruised and cut.

***

"Yeah… that's not entirely what I meant to do." Zee speaks to Rain and looks stunned at what her spell wrought. "You think…" her eyes widen as that small group of Atlanteans head towards her and the air fills with spines. A murmurmed word and she teleports again. Reappearing some distance down the beach, the raven haired woman hears the telepathic order from the Sea Queen and blinks, stumbles and falls to the sand. She didn't teleport quick enough, it seems… or was simply skillful enough to catch one of those barbs.

***

Atlantis has a great many issues with wildlife. No. Seriously. You don't know shit about nature being a bitch that's trying to kill you until a three hundred foot tall tentacled squid with venomous spines and a lamprey mouth that can swallow buildings shows up to your family picnic on a random tuesday looking for 'finger food'. A white glowing god-bear? Mostly the Atlanteans just seem confused by the fact that it has fur, a.k.a. really nice hand holds. It's an enjoyable change from the slimely slickness of wet scales. Of course, it also has all the other things that make fighting monsters back home a dangerous business, which is to say teeth and claws. Soldier's draw spears and stabby things and leap at the animal with fearless resolve, those that're batted away seem slow getting to their feet clutching their wounds and weapons alike.

Kara's attackers are tossed hither and yon, her blows sending them cartwheeling through the air or plowing through the sand, but there just seems to always be more. And they fight dirty. Sand is thrown in her mouth as she cries out, one of them intentionally spits the blood running down his face where his helmet was punch away, directly into her eyes trying to blind her. They stab, and claw, and bite, and punch, and kick, effective, brutal, unrelenting. It's like trying to fight off an extremely angry group of small homocidal children. With teeeeeeensy knives.

The weapons on Floaty Whale Of Boom begin to hum to life, barrels glowing softly, runes on the armor flickering to life. It's shadow falls over the beach, casting the already cloud covered day into an even darker night. Atlanteans begin to drop down from the beasts sides, reinforcements not bothering with rapelling gear or rope just lands on the beach with small explosions of sand, weapons coming up shouldered.

And then everything stops.

The soldiers climbing on/stabbing at Rain, freeze, the men turning weapons on Zee's stumbling form don't pull the trigger, the blows hammering at Kara simply cease and her thrashing sends those still clinging to her in floppy arcs. Even the cannons on the Whale Of Boom seem to dim suddenly as it floats silently overhead, somehow subdued, it's bodylanguage changed to reflect something not unlike a puppy caught gnawing a shoe.

***

Spearhead is stuck with the mental image of the soldier he killed in his mind and a flashback forces its way into his mind… A buddy… Heavy artillery…

Spearhead comes to just in time to have a few of the whale-gunships shells splatter around him and He jumps up and moves it, stopping (or atleast trying to stop) running and tumbles head first into a roll as the Sea Queen's telepathic voice is heard, and he quickly jumps back up and looks around for the source, and finds it, along with seeing the canister shell of spines go off to the side.

***

~All of you. Collect the injured and dead, and return to your posts. Now.~ Still standing on her slightly shimmery pillar of water, Mera telepathically orders the soldiers and the scolded-puppy-boomwhale to retreat. And she remains where she is with the Trident lowered to her side again while every last Atantean disappears back into the surf. She focuses on one soldier for a moment — she can tell he's higher ranking than most around him — and silently commands him to find out who ordered this assault. ~Find him and bring him to me.~

When the last Atlantean is gone, Mera moves closer to the shore via her water-pillar and looks at each Surfacer in turn. She addresses Zatanna mostly, as this woman she recognizes. She's never seen the caped woman before, she doesn't know if that enormous white … cat-thing would be sentient or not, and she can tell there's a male Surfacer out there but he's unfamiliar.

"When I discover who was responsible for this, there WILL be repercussions." The way she says that could sound like a threat, even though in her own mind she's counting her own generals potentially as guilty as any Surfacer might be. She gives each of them a piercing look before turning to follow her troops.

***

To be fair, yeah. A lot of oceanic wildlife is more lethal and stuff. Octopodes are frighteningly intelligent just to start. But Rain's strategy was pulled in the knowledge that with /that many/ dudes trying to make her into a witch kebab, she was going to get hurt eventually. At least this way, she has nice, durable fur and a tougher hide. Human hunters had a heck of a time downing the sacred bear of Siberia, whose giant form was apparently terrifying enough that it still gets passed down in legends despite thousands of years of being rare or gone. Hereditary bear-phobia, if you will.

She's going to get a few smacks and a pair of spear wounds for her trouble.

And then there's a floaty whale. Rain misses Snappy and Clippy (A leviathan and giant crab, respectively). They were nice sea critters. And Floaty Whale of Boom might be nice to petpet and bring it some plankton or fish. Maybe play fetch. Or give it a hug and ask it for insight into the universe's wisdoms and truths. You could hang out with that whale, have some tea and really /learn/ something.

Rain is stopping, though, gently picking a soldier off and setting him down gently.

And then it dawns on her. « … I didn't enchant my clothes … » Oh no. OH NO. If bears could blush, they would. She puts her paws over her face. Captain peers over the bear shoulder, hopping up. "Hello, your highness," He lowers his head. "This is Rain. We learned she can turn into a bear today. That, or she needs to shave." Cat. Caaaaat.

***

Zee's on her knees in the sand, pale and shaking, as she listens to the Sea Queen's address. How does one respond to a miffed Sea Queen? By not saying a thing.

Then there's a white bear … "Wait, that's Rain? I must be hallucinating."

***

Kara is still shaken by the events that have just taken place. Yet despite her injuries, her chin is raised defiantly to Mera, "You bet there will be repercussions, whoever you are." That was the best 'Supergirl' could manage; it was taking all the strength she had remaining just to stay standing. She was scared and there was no doubt, the JL:A would be hearing of this incursion!

***

Spearhead picks his rifle off the ground and slings it across his back, walking out of the treeline towards the others that were fighting the Sea-army. Spearhead isn't exactly sure what the hell was going on, though he did note that the bear has a torn outfit around it in the sand, he was sure that it had been one of the women that were fighting, and so turns to give the bear-woman privacy from himself.

***

Mera pauses before disappearing into the water and gives Kara a long look. "Yes. I just need to find out how much more I will pay for this. Now see to her," the Trident dips slightly toward Zatanna, "before those toxins stop her heart." As she disappears into the water, her mind brushes across Rain's mind (now that Captain introduced the bear), giving the currently bearish witch a high-density information dump explaining the type of toxin Zee was subjected to and how to counteract it.

***

Poor Mera. Rain feels a twinge of sympathy. Losing her husband and then this. Captain seems to figure this out a little. "We're sorry, too." It's a sad situation, all around, in all earnestness. Nevertheless, Rain looks over as Mera dips the trident. The bear nods. On top of it, being a huge, Siberian God-bear takes a lot of effort. While there's a few red blooms in her white fur, it's a lot better than what she could've gotten. She's listening though, looking a little zoned. Deep breath. "Alright, nudity incoming. If you're offended, turn around. No one's gonna croak today." Captain states. The bear nods again.

Paws together. "And hey, thanks, rifle dude." The cat calls (Oh dear) to Spearhead. He's a cat. He's a predator. He has good senses. It just makes sense. Rain drops her bear form and now has a bare form. Her face goes 7 shades of red and she at least gets her hat to put over the worst of it. Shuffle, shuffle. "No cops, no cops…" And moving carefully, she kneels (hat over chest, ahem) to start healing. There's a briefly apologetic look on her face to the others, and one might notice that she is bare. Aside from a belt with twin pistols holstered. It's like someone's very discount bedroom poster, really. Either way, the task at hand keeps her from dying of shame. From now. She's going to start healing Z and stop that toxin from ending the magician. But her blush is so intense, it's reached her ears.

***

Approaching Rain and the injured Zee, she asks with concern despite her own injuries, "Anything I can do to help?" If there isn't, she's likely going to get the heck out of here before Zuperman showed up or something to finish her off.

***

Now things are calmer, Zee raises a weak hand to Kara "Hey Kara." and then watches Mera depart "That wasn't her plan… this Atlantean war is just bad business."

And then there's a naked Rain, and Zee feels dreadful on two accounts. Poor Rain… "I'll get you some clothes from your house, Rain… Just tell me where to find them." She'll be able to magic them over… well, maybe not right now.

As Rains healing begins Zee's shaking subsides, although she's still pale. "Remind me, Rain… when this is all over to make sure my Fishnets are armour proofed."

***

Kara waves back to Zee with a smile, "Hey Zee. You've looked better."

***

Spearhead turns to respond to the Captian's thanks, catching Rain in his sight, he quickly looks at the sand out of respect as he pulls off the miliotary style vest and walks towards where he saw her, holding it out for her, "Just toss it into the bushes over there when the she brings you you're clothes, I'll be around to pick it up later. I'm Spearhead, by the way." He introduces himself.

Spearhead then looks at those who got hit, "You all going to be allright?" He asks concearned.

***

Rain has a few structurally superfluous holes herself. God-bear or not, those spears and such were serious business wielded by serious sea-dudes. And really, this is going to take a few minutes. Poison is expensive for a creature to make, and one does not want simply to *injure* their prey or have it get away only to be eaten by something else. The ocean is a brutal place, and well. One gets the idea. Rain smiles weakly at Kara, looking zoned out. "… not … sure. Can you heal?" She can manage a couple of sentences, but she's concentrating.

Captain pauses. "Bedroom," He describes the room's location. "And that's probably a good idea. Hi there." He offers to Kara after the armoured comment.

The cat looks to Spearhead. "Thanks, man. We appreciate it. Or you can - uh. You got a phone number?" Body armor left out on the beach? That's gonna get sand or stolen. "The witch is Rain, I'm Captain. Nice to meet you, Spearhead." The familiar is handling the talking while Rain finishes at least clearing out the poison and metaphysically duct-taping Z together. "She'll be fine. Probably going to go to a doctor and get cleaned up." Glance to kara. He's not entirely familiar with super-folks. They're way above Rain and his' respective power level.

***

As Rains healing takes effect, Zee nods to Captain… "Give me a sec…" This is going to take a bit more effort that usual.

~ gnirB niaR reH sehtolC ~

A selection of, appropriate, clothing will appear on Rains body….

"I know Kara, I zagged when I should have zigged…" the young magician smiles wanly "I can heal, Rain… Let's see how I go once you're done." Zee's probably going to drop into bed and sleep for days after this adventure. Spearhead gets a slight nod "I'm Zee."

***

Kara waves to Captain, "Uh, hi there." She would heal but it would take a little longer than any instantaneous magic, "I charged in when I should have hung back, I know how you feel." She smiles weakly at the other girl, "So who are they? The Sea Men or whatever they're called…"

Spearhead nodds to the Captian, "Yeah, have something to write it down on?" He says as he drops the vest down and moves a pace or two back, still looking away to give Rain her privacy (so much he doesn't notice clothes suddenly appear on her).

Spearhead nodds to Zee, "Nice to meet you, sorry that you're hurt." He looks at Kara, "I would like to know, too."

***

It's probably more coordinated than Rain's usual 't-shirt and jeans' or whatever she has from the laundry pile. Either way, she's not naked and that's cool. "Thanks," She offers a smile. "How are you feeling now?" Just about down. It'll take a good push of energy, but Z'll be back in scar-free, mint condition soon. She looks to Spearhead. "Yeah, and um - you may have your vest. Though, it's a nice vest." She offers a faint smile over. "I go by Rain." Nevertheless, she pauses to explain.

"They're from Atlantis. Atlanteans. They live under the sea." But not in pineapples. "Their king was killed on a visit up to this city. I have to admit, I'm kind of glad for the lack of retribution in general but…" It's probably hard to fault them a whole lot, given the circumstances. "Well, I'm surprised someone didn't try sooner." She takes a deep breath and sighs. Wince. Ow. "Well, if you need help…"

***

"Anytime… and better" Zee's not quite so pale, just tired and a little woozy but that will pass with a good sleep. Shrugging at Spearhead, Zee looks sheepish "I ummm, should have taken cover much sooner." A small frown for Kara "You hurt? And as Rain says, Atlanteans… that was their Queen, Mera. The Kings wife.. or widow now." Zees done some research since she last met the woman. "And it could be a whole heap worse than it has been, that's for sure."

***

"No, I'll be alright. I just need to go rest. At least no innocent people were hanging around the beach when this happened, it could have been a disaster." Kara sighs and looks around. There's something about Spearhead she doesn't like, but she's in no condition to confront the man right now; it would have to wait for another time. She gives him a look though, the kind that says 'I've got my eye on you mister!'.

***

Once Mera has caught up with the retreating troops, and approaches the nearest general to get a status update. It was actually a very small contingent of troops that made landfall, and while some are rather badly injured, the fatalities were few. Her demand to speak with whomever called for the attack by the time she returns to the royal palace, and meets with Orm and the generals.

One general, Iono, steps forward to take responsibility for the attack. Mera hears him out then nods for a pair of the royal guard to take him into custody while she decides his punishment. She can tell Orm wants to toss his opinion out onto the table, but she really does not want to hear it at the moment. So she doesn't. She leaves her brother in law standing there and retreats to her room. She'll talk to him tomorrow.

***

Spearhead looks up and now sees that Rain is clothed and walks over and picks his vest up, shakeing the sand out of it and putting it back on, "That was quick." He remarks.

"Ah, that makes sense, and yeah, can't really blame them then, though going all out war seems a bit overkill." Spearhead Concurs with Kara's civilian comment, "Yeah, better than my day yesterday…" and he is confused by the look he recieves, but shrugs it off.

***

Rain takes a deep breath. "Well, you're back in mint condition." She didn't leave any scars - she figured Z's not big into battle scars. "It happens. Honestly, with that much fire and spears around, it was less aim and more probability. Human armies use that strategy too," She points out. "And I do feel sorry for her highness. It can't be easy for her now," Rain shakes her head. Captain hops off Rain's shoulder. "Hey," the cat offers, "At least you got a bear form and not a beetle, cat or something small…" Rain rubs the back of her head, wincing. "Yeah…" Turning into a beetle in THAT pell-mell? Hello, suicide!

Rain looks to Spearhead. She smiles up to him. "Yeah, my friend is magic." She offers. "It's nice to meet you, despite the circumstances. And I don't think that was all out." They didn't even bring the giant war crab. Or the kraken. It's on when the kraken is out. She blinks at Spearhead. "May I ask what happened?" She looks a little concerned.

***

Zee probably isn't into battle scars… "Thanks Rain… I really appreciate it. Now, it's your turn." Zee's healing magic works a little different to Rains, it's the way of things. It's Zees' turn to focus and, if Rain permits, the young magician will direct energy to the young witch.

Looking to Spearhead and Kara, Zee nods "It was the Atlantean cloud that kept people away… there's a sense of irony about that."

***

Kara nods a little at that information before preparing to head off, "This is only going to get worse by the looks of it, I should get going though. Definitely don't want to keep hanging around in this state.."

***

"Ah, I see." Spearhead replies to Rain, "Mobsters, and I got 4 He granades tossed at me, wasn't too fun." he says, making it sound lik a bad day at the DMV.

***

Rain didn't think so. "You're welcome. And thanks." Magic varies from school to individual to - well, one gets the idea. She frowns faintly at Kara's pronouncement. "I hope not, but I suspect you're right." A soft sigh. "Be well." She waves to Kara.

Then a blink at Spearhead. Rain looks him over. He doesn't appear to be leaking, wounded or on fire. her eyebrows lift. Rain's purple eyes peer intently at him. "I - I see. I'm sorry to hear that. You're not hurt, are you?" She asks. There's a bit of /concern/ there. Captain blinks. He looks to Zee and Kara. "I'm just glad none of them had a cat vendetta." Huff.

***

Zee holds her hands out towards Rain, not quite touching her, and a far away look touches her face. Unlike Rains gentle touch, Zee's healing may sting a little, not much but a little none the less. Different schools and different methods. "Later Kara…" her words are distracted, she's focussing "And I think a lot will depend on Mera…. look how she stopped it today."

***

"Only a maniac would have something against a cat. They're adorable." Kara smiles and says, "Cya Zee, Cya Rain. Keep an eye on that guy." She's obviously referring to Spearhead, she flies off into the air; likely to go get some rest and heal.

***

"Had to dig a bunch of shrapnel out of my right half of my body, I took cover pretty quick though, just wasn't that great of cover, but it saved my life, more than I can say about all the other people that got mowed down by the same guy in the church, one hell of a wedding day for them…" Spearhead nodds to Kara, "Goodbye, Miss Kara." Spearhead brings the rifle off his back, dropping the clip and clearing the gun.

***

Rain is quiet and still. She tries not to wince, at least. "Yeah… she seems like a good person," She offers. Captain beams at Kara, "Why thank you." The tabby approves. he lifts a paw in a wave.

Then Rain looks to Spearhead. "And you're up and about already? Wow. Er. I'm sorry…" Rain has no idea what to make of it. He seems like a nice guy. With a magnetism for violence. She seems unsure. "Well, it's - good to meet you. I -" Rain's at a loss. She really is.

***

Still focussing and directing her energy towards Rain, Zee's fairly distracted. "Were you a guest at this wedding?" A small smile to Rain "Not too much longer… I'm sorry it hurts" Focus Zee, don't leave scars… return the favour.

***

Spearhead shakes his head, "No, not exactly, I had a tip that the calander killer was going to crash the wedding, so I decided to be there when he did, and things went down hill for me pretty quick from the get go… Was a interesting day." he starts to break down his marksman rifle.

***

Rain is quiet. She doesn't say anything much after. "'s okay." Captain however, has gone to a tidepool. "HAVE AT YOU!" Batcharge! Swatswat! And a crab goes through the air. Revenge! Rain ahs softly at Spearhead. "I see. I'm sorry. I take it you're a soldier or something?

***

"That should do it…." Zee gives Rain a quick once over… "Did I miss anything or anywhere?" Before turning her head to Spearhead "That was in Gotham, right?" Captains actions get a quick glance, and the young magician smiles tiredly…. "Oh, let me change…" more murmured words and her stage costume is replaced with the smart business attire and long wool coat she started with.

***

Spearhead chuckles, "Yes, something like that."

"Yeah, Gotham… Man I wish there was a quick online course for that." Spearhead says, looking the two womens work over, flawless, he is sure that no combat medic could do as good a job.

***

Rain ahs. "Thanks, Z." She nods. "And nope, I'm fine." She looks to Captain. "The crab was after him earlier." BatbatbatabatabatabatSWAT! The hunt is on and it's cat vs crab with Captain managing to knock the thing senseless.

A glance to Spearhead. "I suspect it would be nice, but I did - I um. Can leave you a number if you need patching up or something. It was pretty nice of you to loan me your vest." Well, why not? She's a bit worried for the man's well being on principle at this point, and he doesn't seem evil or whatever.

***

"My pleasure, Rain." Zee smiles between the man and the woman. "If that's it, I'm going to be heading off. Thanks again Rain." No online courses for what she does…

***

Spearhead nodds and raises a had in goodbye to Zee, "Sure, but I have nothing to put it down on, you have something, or I can get something to put it on."

***

Rain looks to Spearhead, and hms. "I have my phone. You can enter it in there, if you like." She smiles. She managed to find her phone amidst her exploded clothes. And the wallet. Also important. Captain is meowing in the distance, and a crab goes sailing past in the air. Vengeance! He's not the hero the beach needs, but he's the one who … apparently just really hates that crab.

A wave to Z. "You're welcome. Thank you, too. Be well. I probably shouldn't stick too long."

***

Spearhead takes the offered phone and inserts his number, gives it back, then pulls out his phone, "Forgot I had it in this untill you said something about your own phone, hope it still works after what it was through last night…" He turns it on, the screen cracked but still working, he hands it to Rain.

***

Rain accepts the phone. "I can fix the screen sometime if you want." She is a witch of many skills, and lived most of her life without magic. Either way, she quietly enters her number into his. "And it seems to be okay, but you'd probably need to test it and see how it does at different charge levels."

Meanwhile, battling Kaiju Level 0.5, Captain finally gets the chomp in! Ka-bite! It's fin— what. Unfortunately, the crab is not dead and latches onto Captain's cheeks. "AAAAAAAH WHY'TH IT SO HARD?!" WHY IS IT HARD?! He's flailing, trying to get the dread crustacean off his face.

Rain sighs. "I think I'd better save my familiar. We probably shouldn't stick around too long. It was nice to meet you." She offers a fingertip wiggle wave.

***

"SUre If you don't mind." Upon hearing the Captian yowl, he trots over and quickly snaps off the crabs claws, then grabs the crab by the back of the shell out of habbit, "There, no need, I'll have it for supper, thanks for 'keeping him occupied' Captian." he says, chuckleing slightly, keeping the cats pride up.

***

Rain pauses. Well, he's a nice guy. And he did just save Captain's pride. The cat hrmmphs and shakes his head. "Thanks." He accepts it. Because his cheeks and pride are stinging a bit. He really had a good lead there! His tail flicks in annoyance, rapid but not in the happy to see you vibrate setting.

Fortunately, Rain is a witch /and/ an engineer. After a few moments of intently staring at the phone, it's as good as new. "Here's your phone. And thanks for helping Captain."

***

Spearhead walks over to Rain, retrieves his phone with a, "Thank you." and puts it in his pocket. I should get gone too, I think we've loitered here a bit long, I hope to see you two soon!" he says, starting to walk where he was shooting, and the picking up his two shells and stuffing them in a pocket.

***

Rain smiles. "You're welcome. And yeah. We look forward to it. See you!" "See you, man." Captain nods, too. A broomstick appears and she hops on, with Captain hopping on just behind her. Shortly, the two will take off into the sky.
