Fade In…

Midday. New York City. It's a helluva place, and Tony is expectedly out of the office. At the moment, he's standing outside the Tower with Pepper. "What are we doing again that required me from taking a lunch with twins and the playmate of the year? I had the schedule cleared for a reason." he opines, looking through the world through rose colored glasses - literally. Rose tinted sunglasses with gold frames color coordinates with a similar off golden tone colored suit, dark cranberry shirt and a tie that's just one of those envious accessories that just pulls the whole thing together. Yup - Tony knows how to blend, alright. He looks around, scanning for would be people that they'd have to meet at such a time of day that he should really be up to..other things.

—-

Jesana is approaching from the side and overhearing Tony, she grins to herself. Twins, nice. It sounds like this guy knows how to have fun. It's Pepper that she's come to see though and Jes waves and stays back a bit, not wanting to intterupt. She's dressed casual in black jeans and leather jacket and rainbow zebra print halter top. She's also scanning the crowd but for potentinal threats and some unobtrusive spot to hide the weapons hidden under coat in case they go inside. The native american is pretty sure Pepper wouldn't exactly approve.

—-

It's been a while since Babs had been out of Gotham, things there are keeping her pretty busy - surprise! - but when Pepper invited her to Stark Tower, she couldn't say no. It had been too long since she had seen her friend.

Getting out of the car that had bought her to New York and settling herself in her chair, Babs approaches the group that has now gathered, her trusty tablet held on her lap.

"Hello, Pepper, Mr Stark." she looks at Jesana, clearly recognising the young lady from that incident in Gotham from months ago, she gives the young woman a nod.

—-

Pepper Potts stands outside the Tower next to Tony, her own eyes shaded by sunglasses that actually appear to be dark enough to block some of the midday sun. "Lunch with people who can actually carry on an intelligent conversation." She then steps forward and smiles a hello to Jesana and offers Babs a wave after the other rehead settles into her wheelchair. "Jesana, Babs. Thank you for joining us."

—-

Tony Stark would've noticed the zebra striped halter top on his own, because - well, halter top. But the fact that Pepper actually knows her only emboldens Tony more. "Pepper, you didn't tell me about your friend. Shame on you." he walks forward, "Hi, I'm Tony." he says, offering a hand before Pepper has a chance to object or admonish. When he hears Babs, he turns his head towards the woman, "Miss Gorden - a genuine pleasure to see you again." and flahses his gigawatt grin towards her before the charisma turns up to 11 as he looks back towards Jesana, "…and you would be..hopefully free for dinner around seven?"

—-

It takes Jes a moment to place Babs, the woman's face hadn't been her main focus during that incident but she remembers her scent and can't help scowling at the sidewalk for a second. That had not been one her better battles and if she ever finds that damn woman who got between her and the bullet that hit Pepper she's gonna throttle her. "Hi, Lady Pepper! Ms. Gordon, Mr. Stark."

She doesn't really know who Tony is aside from probably owning this building and being Pepper's boss. Jes blinks and shakes his hand then grins impishly. "Sure..why not?" Her brown eyes are full of amusement. She's well aware she's an attractive young woman and he has no idea who or what she is. This could be a lot fun and Jes hasn't had much lately.

—-

"Mr Stark, it is indeed a pleasure" Babs offers the man a smile and then glances to Pepper as the Tony Stark charm is dialled up to 11. As usual with Babs, she remains quiet, watching and observing and drinking things in.

"My pleasure, Pepper. How are you? It's been way to long since we've been able to catch up in person."

—-

Pepper Potts isn't fast enough to stop Tony, and Jesana only makes matters worse by accepting. Oy vey. She turns and pulls down her sunglasses just enough to look over them at her boss. It's the silent 'no'. Possibly deadlier than the usual minor scolding. "We're waiting for one other person, then we're going to lunch at Pongsri." And before Tony can add any sort of comment, she levels that look at him again. "And we're not taking a car."

—-

Tony Stark smiles at Pepper, disarmingly, however she's looking at him. "Fantastc." and turns back towards Jesana, "Pongeri, that's Thai, so let's keep the pan-asian theme up later and say Sushi? Do you like Versace, by the way? I know shop just up town from where we're having lunch." he frames the younger woman as if a director, "I'm thinking something deep red, plunging neckline, lots of slink..you like slink?" he asks, before turning back to Pepper, "Of course we'll walk. I'll drive for dinner. I'm thinking the White Countache..it'll pop better." he pauses, "Wait, who else are we waiting for. We have my ever burnded assistant, the genius, the gorgeous lady of mystery..and…well..me." he responds brightly.

—-

Normally, Lunair is dealing with drones. Or snipers. Or HYDRA. Or Baroness. Or giant robots. Or Nazi speedsters. Or- the list goes on. Today, she's just kind of practicing flying in flying armor. Staaaaart, stop - steer. And then she ducks behind a trashcan. To drop her armor, and be in civilian clothes. Check left. Check right. No drones. No - really long list of trouble.

And she soon emerges, trying to look normal and innocent. Surely no one saw a randomly armored figure. "Dooooooing normal people stuff~" Humhum. She's unwittingly heading towards Pepper, Tony and Jes. Maybe towards the nice book store.

—-

Jes catches Pepper's look and is even more amused. Humans can be so… uptight about some things. "Don't worry Lady Pepper. Whatever he's gotten up to I'm sure I've done the same or more. Lunch sounds great and so does a walk. It's nice out." She bites her lip to keep from laughing. Slink? If only he knew. "Mm." Most of her responses are things she's not going to say in front of Pepper and her friend. "Sure. Sounds great. I like most kinds of food honestly but sushi is amazing." Jes's eyes move over the people passing them by as they talk. It's the only sign at the moment that she might be more than she seems, a contstant awareness of her surroundings. She spots Lunair but doesn't give her away until she's nearing them and looking normal. "Heyla!" Jes smiles.

—-

Babs hides an amused smile behind her hand. Tony is certainly living up to his reputation! Jesana's response simply has her shaking her head - so glad this young one isn't one of hers to Bat-wrangle.

Lunairs appearance has her looking at the young woman, it's been a very long time since she met the teen in person… and then only once. She has spoken to her, recently, though … thank goodness for her digital voice disguise. "Hello Lunair, it's been a long time." and then to Pepper and Tony "Anywhere you like and I don't mind … walking… it's a nice day for it, afterall."

—-

Pepper Potts smiles at Babs again. "I've been busy as always." She turns back toward Jesana when she greets someone, and then quick as a snake reaches out and snags Lunair by an arm. "Hey, glad you could make it." She doesn't give Lunair a chance to be confused, adding briskly, "All right. Lunch." She gives both Tony and Jesana the Look this time, as she gestures for someone to take the lead. Presumably Tony, as he is probably the only other person here who knows the restaurant that is their destination.

—-

Tony Stark suavely hooks his arm around Jesana, "Walk with me, dear, tell me more about you." - meanwhile, JARVIS, through subcutaneous chip comms - "Sir, the young lady who joined you has seemingly arrived in a rather extensively high tech armor not matching any specifications we have on file. I can't currently track a telemetry, but I'll focus the sensor array to scan for specifications the next time it pings." which recieves a slight nod from Tony as he walks. "To the delights of Cathay, ladies!" he says, taking the lead. Tony Stark walking with a young model, his girl friday, another attractive woman in a wheelchair, and another very attractive young lady. TMZ has their human interest story for tonight's show, certainly - Tony Stark, Philanthropist. Doesn't descriminate!

—-

Lunair pauses. Smiles. Waves back. She seems to have problems emoting properly, giving her a blank, distant look. The thousand yard stare at rest doesn't help but she's snapped to. "Hello! Yes. How are you?" Thankfully, Lunair is a very restrained sort, not too startled as Pepper snags her arm. She does seem surprised. But there's no fight reaction. Just a brief tensing for a second.

"… cathay?" Is that something she blew up once? "Hi! I - " Wait, has she met Tony? She's likely seen him on the news. Also, the armor is totally non-copyright infringing because lawyers are totally scary.

—-

Jes strolls along with at Tony's side with an easy smile that doesn't at all give away her real thoughts at the moment. She's been avoiding attention for months now but that isn't important anymore and this is far better for catching the attention of the one hunting her than anything she'd come up with on her own so far. Today is turning out to be full of surpises and possibilites and that is her favorite kind of day. Jes does give Lunair a slightly worried glance. She's only met her in battle and if Lunair mentions the last one.. it wouldn't be good. Killing people is generally frowned upon. "I love New York. It's just so much nicer here than Gotham. Not that all of Gotham is awful.. and it's home now, but well, it's Gotham." Jes replies. It's not a lot of information but he hadn't asked anything specific yet so it will do.

—-

Babs 'falls in' beside Pepper and watches Tony with Jes. "Busy, yes, I can imagine, Pepper." she murmurs quietly. She'd ask whether Pepper had had any trouble with The Joker since his move to New York… but that would raise some questions she'd rather not answer.

Jes' comment about New York being nicer than Gotham, has Babs snorting a little - she can't help it. "I'm quite partial to Gotham, Jesana. Having lived there all my life." Indeed she couldn't think of leaving … even though she might have to.

Lunair gets a smile "I'm well thank you, Lunair. It was kind of Pepper to invite me out… all work and no play … well you know what they say."

—-

Tony Stark isn't being spoken to from the gaggle behind him, so he's naturally just continuing his banter with Jesana, "Well, Gotham..it's like Robert Smith rented the place to shoot a video. Always dark, foggy, six foot bats running around there chasing rejects from the Insane Clown Possee. It's like I need a passport just to take a meeting with Wayne. Your complexion is /amazing/..southwest?" he asks casually. No one might notice the glasses themselves are a front. A mini version of his hud allows to handle basic multitasking with simple retinal commands. Something he recently tinkered into life after blowing off a golf game at pebble beach with a couple of former silicon valley giants and a former POTUS.

—-

Pepper Potts opts to leave Tony and Jesana be while they walk toward the restaurant, having let go of Lunair's arm as soon as she seems willing to follow along. When Tony starts talking about Gotham, she is very careful to not say anything at all, and she even goes so far as to glance at Babs. Not going to say anything about clowns from Gotham. Just no.

—-

Lunair will follow. Why not? She seems to trust Pepper. But she listens. "There are a lot of shootings in Gotham." That's - yeah. Lunair doesn't comment further. She looks thoughtful. "And people in clown outfits. This is also weird." She prefers people she can just shoot without feeling bad she'd shot a clown or a cosplayer. It's rough, really. For her part, she will fall in along the others.

"Also I do not think I remember your name," She finally admits to Tony. "I have been… busy." Nod. Yes. Busy is something normal people are, yes? She survived Deathstroke's Happy Fun Snuggle Cuddle Sparkle Desu Funtime Joycamp.

Also college. But mostly the shooting. She nods to Jes. "I see. That is good."

—-

Jes smiles. "Blackfoot Reservation on the Border of Montana and Canada until last year and thank you. I took a trip recently and got a nice tan." Which is really such an understatement of things it's nearly a lie but it's really the easiest explanation for her shift from half indian to looking like a native american goddess. Jes watches Pepper and Babs body language with interest.

There seems to be something there but she has no idea what. "Well. One of the things that makes me like New York more Ms Gordan, things aren't always trying to kill me here. Gotham, that happens frequently. She's also picked up on Lunair's unease and smiles reassuringly at her.

—-

New York isn't anywhere near as clean as Jes seems to think it is, but Babs isn't to going to let on that she knows this… well, knows more of the seedy underbelly than a normal 'citizen' might.

Peppers look doesn't get a response, Babs knows better than that. And she's not going to mention any damn clowns! "How has Stark Tower fared after the last mishap, Pepper, Mr Stark?" obviously she'd read about it in the newspaper, right?

—-

"Well, it was very messy for a while, several departments had to relocate until all of the damage was repaired because of the external windows being broken. But it's all fixed now. you can't even tell anything happened." And finally, here is the restaurant. Pepper has never been so glad to see this place, it's almost absurd. She smiles a hello to someone just inside the building, graciously accepting when the door is held open for all of them. She then tells the hostess in the entryway which reservation is theirs. They'll be shown to a table quite promptly.

—-

Lunair is following. She listens. "I am glad it's all fixed," She nods. "Thank you." She has good manners, at least. The politest explosive mutant mercenary. But she will likely settle quiet to listen in.

—-

Tony Stark shrugs a little, "The Tower's a tough ol' bird. She can take it. Northern Montana around Canada, say? Not much up there..been thinking about buying a ranch. Val Kilmer gave me one of his cowboy hats from one of the movies he did, been dying for an excuse to wear it. No chaps, though. That's just..well, weird - Ahh! And here we are. Once entered, and shown two a table he orders an appetizer of a double bourbon, neat and a bottle of the finest wine in the place for the ladies. Hold the ice - he's dieting.

—-

Jesana gives Pepper a slightly apologetic look. She kinda blinks at Tony. He thinks chaps are weird, oh boy. She'll not be mentioning the fur then. Jes makes sure there's room for Bab's chair and also pulls Pepper's out for her before taking her own. It's a slightly strange gesture but Jes either doesn't notice or doesn't care.

"There definitely isn't much there. I'd never been off the Res aside from some trips into the Canadian wilderness and a small town on the border." She grins but there's a hint of sorrow in her voice as she talks about where she grew up. Jes eyes the wine with longing but takes a glass of water instead. "I was totally lost when I first got to the city but I absolutely love it here. You'd rock a cowboy hat alright." Jes winks.

—-

Thud. Squeaaaaaaaaaaaaaak. Why does it sound like something just hit the tower and is sliding down the glass facade?

Because something did. A dragon, specifically. About, oh, fifty feet long and black and red and scaley. It's curled up on the helipad now.

What? Crosswinds are nasty in this part of town.

—-

Of course, Babs is listening to everything Jesana shares and storing it away for later. The benefit of having a eidetic memory… she doesn't really need to take notes. As she settles herself at the table, giving Jes an appreciative smile, the redhead nods in acknowledgement to Tony "So I can see… and I'm sure Pepper, you're very glad that it's all fixed now. I can't imagi…." As the red and black dragon appears, Babs looks out the window …. "Rowan!?" Well, she is from Gotham!

—-

Pepper Potts is very careful to not comment on the wine, but will only be drinking about a fourth of a cup at the most. She does have to return to work after this. She gives Jesana an amused smile when the young woman insists on pulling out her chair, but she's only just barely settled when her phone chirps once in her bag — the usual 'message from JARVIS' sound. Her eyebrows draw together as she pulls the phone to see what the AI wants to tell her, blinks at the message for a full second, then looks at Babs in time for her reaction to the dragon. "Rowan? Isn't that…?"

—-

Tony Stark is getting the same info from JARVIS only in the form of, "Sir, there seems to be a rather large, black Dragon taking refuge on the helipad, in case you were considering taking the 'taxi' back to the office." which causes Tony to actually take pause. "Really? And I'm not watching Game of Thrones /or/ having Sean Connery for dinner. That's rather odd. Usual security protocol - ask for intentions declared and if he looks like he's about to get firey, throw up the incendiary blast guards around the enterance and ready Hillary for me."

Tony sips his bourbon, "Looks like Eragon decided to drop by the Tower unannounced. If he's not Puff, then I might have to take rain check on lunch." he intones to anyone who's paying attention.

—-

Jes automatically reaches for the gun hidden at the small of her back but relaxes as she realizes the noise isn't some kind of danger and doesn't seem startled or worried once she understands that is what Tony is talking about. "Rowan? That's his name?" Jes asks Babs and Pepper. She's met the dragon once. Or rather, ran into him in the dark on a beach. If she'd been in her human form she'dve broken her nose. She'd ended up with a rather spectacular black eye as it was. "He's okay, I think."

—-

"Owwwwwwwwww…" That comes from outside. It's loud. And deep. But Babs at least will know the voice. Rowan does sometimes like to just fly around. Usually he doesn't garner too much attention. But it… uh… he doesn't fly here often.

—-

"Yes" Babs gives Pepper a very wry smile "it is." Getting her phone out she sends Rowan a text - yes… the Dragon can operate a phone apparently Rowan, Were you looking for me? I'm at lunch with Miss Potts, why don't you join me in the restaurant …. she sends the address, so he can't miss it.

"He's my friend, Mr Stark. And yes, Jes… he's ok." Well, he fights on the side of the champions anyway.

—-

Pepper Potts looks concerned now instead of alarmed. "Does he need help climbing down from there? I got the impression he ran into the Tower pretty forcefully." She tucks her phone away again and actually takes a sip from her wine glass. But only the one sip. What? Dragons running into buildings is just strange enough to be stressful.

—-

Tony Stark glances over at Jes, smiles, "Relax, Calamity. We get all the weird stuff in New York. Gotham just gets the stuff that'll kill ya. It's why I didn't transform the tower into Robogonzozord mode." — is he kidding? Who knows.

—-

There's an odd bit on the cameras that JARVIS lets Pepper see as the dragon actually produces a cellphone from… somewhere… and checks the text message. And then sets it down on the floor to clawtap back before finally making it vanish again (not clear where) and slowly picking himself up to glide over to where the restaurant is.

—-

Jes had meant that she didn't think he was going to start roasting people and eating them rather than that dragon was one of the good guys but that works. If the dragon ruins her chances of getting lucky later she's going to kick him in whatever the dragon equivilant of his junk is. She doesn't however say any of that aloud. "See, all good. No need to rush off without lunch." Jes grins at Tony but then her own phone beeps an alarm and the grin immediately fades into worry. "I'm sorry I have to check this." She hastily grabs her phone. "What's wrong?" There's a moment of listening to the voice on the other end and then sighing in relief. "No, no that's normal it just hadn't happened yet. Both of them? Yeah, I'll be there in ten minutes." "I am so sorry. There's um, an emergency with my sitter." Jes mentally winces. Maybe no one was able to overhear the person on the other end of the line. If they did her passing as a human just got blown out of the water.

—-

Babs sits there quite serenely as this all transpires. Dragons on helipads that know how to use a phone to send a text. As her phone beeps, she checks "He'll be here in a moment. No, Pepper, he won't need help getting down." As the camera feeds just showed them.

The call Jes takes, and the part of the conversation she can hear… Babs doesn't eavesdrop without cause! … has eyebrows rising… Sitter? and 'both of them'? "I hope everything works out o.k., Jesana."

—-

Pepper Potts glances at her phone in time to see the video feed JARVIS shared with her. It takes her a moment before she can look up from her phone with a straight face, and then looks at Jesana as she gets a call and moves to leave. "Are they all right? Is there anything we can do to help?"

—-

Jes smiles. "Thank you both. They'll be fine. It's my sitter whose a bit freaked out. He expected me to be there for this but they've got mind of their own." She chuckles and then turns and ducks her head to kiss Tony's cheek. "I hope to see you later, but if something comes up I'll understand. Tell your friend Rowan Hi for me." Jes waves and darts outside. She's in such a hurry she doesn't even round the corner before she clutches her necklace and disappears.

—-

Tony Stark watches her go and smiles, "Well..that went better than expected." he sits down his glass and JARVIS is in his ear again, "Sir, I do hate to bother your already scant sociak itinerary, but it would seem that Doom is mountain an offense to push into neighboring Latverian countres on multiple fronts. NATO is request your assistance." and Tony abruptly changes demeanor. "Gotta go, Potts. SecGen's being pinned under Doombot fire." as he whips off the glasses and slips them into his suitcoat pocket. "Miss Gordon, come by the Tower. I've something for you. Hope you like cobalt blue." as he departs the table, "JARVIS, set me up the Mark Eight with the usual anti doom loadout and the beefy repulsors, I'm gonna need to make tracks"

So important he didn't even take his bourbon to go. Duty calls, indeed.
