Growing Pains

July 02, 2015:

Thor and Loki have a brother-to-brother talk. Sort of.

Brooklyn - New York City

One of the most famous of boroughs, Brooklyn is a cluster of small towns in a big town. When night falls in the good weather, in the more 'city' area, apartment stoops are pulled up and mothers chat with other mothers while the kids play in the streets under the block's watchful eye. Gossip abounds, and there is a spirit that seems to transcend all- when one grows up in Brooklyn, one is never truly far from home.

Traffic on the street is heavy at times, pedestrian traffic even moreso. There is a lot to see when one gets away from the residential areas. Stores of all ethnic variety serve their populations be it Russian or Ukranian, African American, Hispanic, Italian, Polish, or Orthodox or Ultra Orthodox Jew; whatever one wants, it's easily obtainable.

Fade In…

Thor is sitting in a little used small park in Brooklyn, thinking. He is rather suprised at how blood thirsty he got whilst assaulting Hydra. True, they were evil, but he hadn't felt blood lust like that in ages. It was an interesting thing. Life had become complicated.

He had spent the past week in Asguard. Things were considerably less complicated there, but he had too many ties to Midguard to simply abandon it. At the moment, he sat looking at the reflecting pool…considering.

Even though he may choose a smaller park than Central, and even though he had spent time in Asgard of late, Thor isn't one to hide or blend in easily. Even if he's wearing Midgardian clothing, he stands out. Perhaps it's what made finding him so easy. That or Loki is just that clever. Maybe a combination of both.

"You do know that the fish won't stare back at you," is commented from behind his adopted brother. "Their brains only hold information for a couple of seconds. No doubt they keep forgetting that you're even here."

Thor isn't really trying to blend in today. Donald Blake has been wearing thin on him of late. Very thin indeed. He looks up at his brother and grins slightly,"Hail and well met brother mine. I was introspecting. I doubt the fish even care I am here. And what mischief hast thou been up to of late?"

Loki hasn't bothered creating a Midgardian persona, but then again, he can shapeshift into whomever…and whatever he wants. "Introspecting? I didn't think that was your style, Brother. I thought you just…hit things until they either collapsed or did what you wanted." He glances down at the pond, "I suppose hitting the fish wouldn't get you very far."

A hand then goes to his chest at the question, "Mischief? I? You wound me in that you think I would cause harm to this…" he looks around at the park surrounded by buildings and a rather busy, dirty city, "…glorious realm…" the sarcasm drips from those two words.

Thor grins,"There is harm and then there is harm. You are a master of pushing things just far enough but…." he shrugs. He looks around at Midgard,"It is a complicated place. I prefer the other realms sometimes but there is so much we can do here that it continues to draw me." He shrugs. "And yes, I doth imagine the fish would be little challenge."

You say, "You're still accusing me. I ask you then, what have I done these last few months to cause harm upon this realms? To cause even a little harm?" Loki's arms cross at his chest, but he's not terribly defensive. More curious, really. "Oh, there's much that could be done here, but those that seem to think they know best prevent most of it.""

Thor says, "I know you are a complicated person Loki. But there are our basic natures. I'm a warrior, I have never known someone besides yourself better at wreaking havok. It could easily be for a good cause but if you weren't doing ANYTHING to amuse yourself I'd actually be genuinely worried. And I think you could do a great deal of good, just…not necessarily with the methods thine subtext implies."

"Careful there, brother…lest I find insult in your words." Two can play at that game, and Loki feels that he'd win if it came to that. "Suppose we try again before we come to blows and destroy this…Park, is it?" Again, he's not entirely convinced that this spit of green can rightfully be called such. "I'm in no mood to do battle today," which may or may not be the truth.

"What have you been contemplating?"

Thor says, "It was meant as a compliment, but you choose what you take offense at. And I am in no mood to do battle either. I felt far more bloodlust at my last encounter than I wanted. It was…unusual, and I am contemplating why." He shrugs."
"Bloodlust? Unusual for you? As you said, you are a warrior…" Loki moves to take a seat nearby. "Why is this any different than your usual state of mind in battle?" See? He's interested…curious, even.

Thor says, "I wanted to kill them….I mean really kill them. En masse. In battle, I am no weakling, but I kill when I must. Obviously my berserker rage is different, but in this insantance I wanted all of them to …die…I felt no hesitation whatsoever."

Loki shrugs, "I still don't quite see how this is any different than fighting the Jotun? Or Bilgesnipes? You wanted them all dead, yes? Defeated in battle? Laying at your feet, bleeding to their deaths? Why is this any different?"

Thor says, "I don't delight in their deaths like I did before. Defeated? Easily, but I do not delight in killing, no."

"So," Loki stands and slowly paces about the area of the pond where Thor sits, "You no longer find satisfaction in killing your enemies…you are upset at the battle-rage you felt in your last fight, and you are thinking about it." There's a slow grin before he approaches his brother and claps a hand to his shoulder, "Why, it sounds like you're finally growing up."

Brothers can be pretty awful, can't they?

Thor just smirks at Loki,"And that, dear brother, is why I know you are always up to something. You can't help poking…its alright but I do need to be alone right now. Until another time."

He then uses his hammer and flies off.
