Claim to Fame

Diana Prince is the Ambassador of the people of Themyscira. She's known publicly as 'Wonder Woman' by the world at-large (though she rarely refers to herself as that). She is an old spirit, who has spent the last 100 years, mostly in hiding, but has emerged into the public as of today to help protect the world and use her gifted power set to make sure the world is a safer place.

Diana spends much of her time as the representitive of the people of Themyscira and she is often attending charitable events, mainly for children and women as she feels particularly inclined to be a positive role model for young women.

Reputation

Diana's reputation is one of being beloved by the majority of the world's civilization. However, many government leaders fear what she is capable of, though openly respect a great deal of what she seems to stand for. But like all those who reach great power, they grow very afraid to lose it and they see her as someone who could potentially take it away.

Additionally, Wonder Woman often gets criticized politically for choosing to base herself out of the United States. Because of this, Diana will travel frequently so that she is seen in more locations than simply the shores of the US. She knows full-well that she must see to the aide of others across the world, and this is why she is a wholely beloved figure world wide.

Biography

The legend that is Wonder Woman has gone through the rumour mill that her story has many versions; the truth behind it? Only Diana knows.

Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons sculpted her daughter from clay on the beaches of Themyscira and cried out to the Gods to make her real, to give her the child that was taken from Hippolyta when she was killed prior to coming to Paradise Island.

The Gods, Zeus specifically, answered her cries and granted the Queen the child she so desired. Hippolyta's faith in the Gods was strengthened and she would rule over the isle as a mother rules over her children, yet it was clear that Diana was favoured by the Queen above all.

Diana grew up surrounded by her "sisters" who loved and cared for her through her entire childhood. She gained a great deal of knowledge through their mentorship. As she grew older, Diana showed the speed, strength, and prowess that most Amazon Warriors showed, yet her abilities exceeded those of her age. Eventually because of this, she drew the attention of the gods for her valour, her determination, and her skill. It was clear that at a young age, Diana would follow the path of an Amazon Warrior. Her leadership skills grew forming numerous bonds with her sisters that would fast their first real test when a pilot accidentally crashed on the mystical isle. It was the first time Diana had met a man. Diana witnessed the airplane soaring through the sky, before crashing in the nearby bay outside of Themyscira, close to the cliff where she stood. She leapt down into the ocean and rescued the pilot, only to discover a human soldier named <Redacted> lying unconsciously on the Themysciran beach. She approached him as he came to, asking him if he was a man, due to Diana never having come across a male before in her life. Though somewhat confused, Steve affirmed that he was, rhetorically asking if he looked like one.

Enemy soldiers stormed the beaches of Themyscira on that same day, the Amazonian Warriors were forced to fight them off and for the first time generations, man clashed with Amazon. Many lives were lost on that day, and Pilot was forced to face the leaders of the Themysciran Council, to answer the questions of why this all happened.

The PIlot explained the current state of man's world, and he pled for his safe return to it, so that he may regain his fight against the enemies of his people. It was then that Diana saw an opportunity to leave her homeland and experience what the rest of the world had to offer. She chose to take it, through much turmoil with her mother and aunts.

Diana would leave Themyscira and participate in events of World War I, fighting alongside the Allied Powers. At or near the end of the war in 1918, Diana was in Belgium, where a photograph was taken of her with Sameer, The PIlot, Chief, and Charlie. The war would come ot an end not long after Diana and her friends thwarted a major attack against the allied forces.

AFter World War I, Diana did not return to Themyscira, she decided to travel the world and learn more about how the rest of man's world worked. She became an antiques dealer and restoration expert, earning enough money to help the less fortunate.

Diana would participate in a great number of events over the course of these next 100 years in man's world, but throughout them she would stay largely secretive up until recent years. In recent years is when Diana took on the public persona of Wonder Woman and has become a modern day staple in super hero affairs.

Themyscira has also become public knowledge. The Island has an Embassy in Manhattan, and a Consulate in Metropolis. Diana still helps all of humanity, but from a more public-persona now. She commutes between Metropolis and Manhattan (where she also holds a residence), and serves at the United Nations headquarters on the east side of Manhattan.

Character Details

Diana of Themyscira is a remarkably strong woman in all senses of the word — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. She is charismatic, gracious, and charming with a ready wit and a light sense of humour. Her outstanding courage has few equals and her quiet wisdom has resolved far more disputes than her sword ever will. She is also a woman of integrity and of principle, unafraid to stand up for what she believes, even if it means going against popular opinion.

Despite all of that, her most defining attributes are her unconditional love for the rest of humanity and her shakable belief in peace, truth, honour, and justice not only as worthy ideals but as practical, attainable goals. She is kind and compassionate almost beyond measure, well able to see into the heart of anyone she meets and to discern the truth of the needs that drive them. Indeed, she often understands the hearts of others far better than she does her own.

All that said, she is also a remarkably pragmatic individual. Her training as a warrior and the demands placed upon her by her position and titles have made it abundantly clear to her that, in this imperfect world, often the ideal solution can't be found. Sometimes, the best you can hope for is a lucky break, while you make do with what you've got in the meantime. It's a balancing act. And while she will be the first to proclaim all life as sacred and worth protecting, she will not hesitate one moment to kill in defense of the greater good and the protection of innocents. It is a regrettable necessity, in her mind, but unavoidable once war has been declared.

Despite that, Diana is, quietly, an unfailing optimist. She is not easily defeated not because of her vaunted gods-given gifts, but because of her relentless, indefatigable spirit. She simply refuses to give up.
