Dr. Sheridan: Only daughter of a military family with a reputation for generations of military excellence; once a rising star in several scientific fields. She worked for a time in the R&D branch of the DEO's Knightwatch, but retired following a devastating accident.

Six: ???

Kinsey: She runs a garage in Gotham on the waterfront. Rumor has it she's capable of fixing just about anything.

Six: Some kinda hotshot pilot. Or was it hacker? Something like that.

Dr. Kinsey Sheridan was born into an Irish-American military family in Boston, the so-called Cradle of Liberty. Her ancestors, going back generations, have all been lauded for their excellence in service, so there was never any question that she would be joining a military branch herself. When she came of age, though, it was apparent that she was too strong-willed, too much of an independent thinker and too prone to improvising and modifying protocol to ever be valuable in the rank and file. In combat situations where a group must move and think as one, that kind of thing gets soldiers killed.

She finished high school two years early, already a gifted engineer, and gained employment at Picatinny Arsenal, a joint military complex dedicated to R&D. She spent several years developing advanced maneuvering systems for military vehicles, and it's there that she learned to work as a test pilot, insisting upon testing her own work for ethical reasons. She was hardly anything special as a pilot, but she possessed the right kind of fearlessness and devotion to her purpose, and she discovered a passionate love for the high-adrenaline occupation.

On the side, she began to pursue academic degrees. First engineering, then robotics, and then neural network artificial intelligence, a field she took interest in in the hopes that she might utilize it to give soldiers in the field an even greater tactical edge. As her work grew ever-increasingly more complicated, somebody in the higher echelons of military intelligence took notice. She was monitored closely by the NSA's TECHINT division. When her work expanded to include some thoughts about quantum physics and whether or not it might be possible to use it to transmit information — consciousness — from soldiers and AIs to one another, it was decided that Picatinny was no longer the appropriate place for her to continue her work. Her monitoring agent contacted the DEO, and she was recruited into the R&D branch of the Knightwatch, where she shifted her focus to developing 'smart' weapons, armor, and other technology to give the Knightwatch's human soldiers an incredible edge against the supernormal threats they were created to face down. Not only would the equipment come with an AI partner in the field, but all of those AI, and their assigned soldiers, would be linked together seamlessly across even vast distances, utilizing quantum physics: an outrageously ambitious vision.

With access to alien and inter-dimensional technology, the breakthroughs came hard and fast after that, and it wasn't long before she had several working prototypes. Early AI iterations were paired with lab animals, but it was determined that even intelligent apes were incapable of providing the cognitive interaction necessary for proper testing. Knowing more than anyone else about the technology involved and fearless as ever, Kinsey volunteered to be the first human subject to have the hardware installed in her skull.

The first few trials went incredibly well…but eventually there was an accident.

(It's a superhero backstory — of course there was an accident.)

An explosion. Something in the link between Kinsey and AI 5.0 became unstable at the subatomic level. When the smoke cleared they found Kinsey barely alive in the wreckage of the laboratory. Both of her legs from the knee down and the majority of her right arm had been blown off. Her brainwave activity was alarmingly abnormal, so she was placed into a medically-induced coma. Her odds of survival were not estimated to be very good.

There were all sorts of problems with electrical faults in the equipment surrounding her bed in intensive care, and her brain activity remained inexplicably strange. She did eventually wake, and not long afterward tendered her resignation with the DEO, accepting a generous severance package. She claimed that her frequent, splitting migraines would impede her ability to work at the level required by the organization.

In truth, she'd discovered that the prototype AI, Five, had somehow been shunted into her skull during the accident, and that she now possessed several unusual abilities — abilities her former employers would no doubt be required to catalogue…if they decided to let her live at all. She felt it would be most prudent to disappear into civilian life until she had a better grasp of what it was that had happened to her, and what it might mean for her future.

Over the last year her proficiency has increased to the point that she's been able to erase herself almost entirely from public record, with the exception of her employment dossier, which is still extant in the Knightwatch database. She took the funds from her severance pay and opened a garage in Gotham along the waterfront that faces Metropolis, working during the day on specialist vehicles and other challenging machinery. At night she works in the lab hidden underneath the garage, or as fledgeling mercenary pilot and hacker, Six.

Character Details

Kinsey Sheridan has layers. She's a thinker, a scientist, and embraces logic, but she's also inherited the wild streak of her Irish-American heritage, and those two halves of her personality are often at odds. She warms readily to new people, quick with a sly remark and prone to spoiling those she likes, but there's a part of her that always seems held in reserve. …But then, who doesn't have secrets?

Image Name Relation Information
cd4HoCD.jpg Bucky Barnes Matt's Client Barnes' life has had a whole lot of strange influence over Kinsey's, for all that they've only met once and recently — and Kinsey wasn't exactly herself at the time, either. His trial had unprecedented sway over her strange personal life, and his recent bout with demonic- what, possession?- alongside Jane Foster nearly cost Kinsey her entire identity. But as it was seventy years ago, so it is now: it wasn't really his fault. It would be difficult for he and Kinsey to have lives or personalities more different from one another, but they share a strange relationship with battles of selfhood and identity.
Dg8DTJR.jpg Caitlin Fairchild Actual Hero Six had a lot of questions for Caitlin recently, and Caitlin had a lot of answers, and a suggestion: maybe Six should join the Justice League, to escape from whatever it is she's running from. It was an offer made in kindness, and although Kinsey is uncertain that the proper path is choosing to align with such a high-profile faction, she isn't likely to forget that kindness anytime soon. In her mind, whatever she decides, she owes Cait just for extending a hand at all.
QZMnbu2.jpg Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel Actual Hero She was at the cargo docks, along with Caitlin Fairchild, when Six made a daylight appearance to help resolve a mess with a tilted-over cargo freighter. Gave Six a hell of a ride on a jolt of superhuman energy, too.
LHawQzF.jpg Danny Rand ? Rich guy who does some kinda fist thing? It's not clear. It's really not clear. But he absolutely crippled one of Fisk's operations when it mattered most, and he's been generous with his resources (granted, he did not really even know he owned the building in question, but still, though) - it's hard not to appreciate that.
fs6vnp4.jpg Elektra Natchios Nope. Do not.
xFTnj9L.jpg Foggy Nelson Foggy He's a hilarious geek. Kinsey liked him immediately. He's good for Matt in ways that maybe nobody else is, too, and that's a thing to be grateful for.
EPv8fRG.jpg Dr. Jane Foster ? As a name on an academic paper Jane Foster was always the kind of brilliant and controversial figure in her field that Kinsey found it easy to look up to. She admired her work, but also her commitment to that work even in the face of criticism. Recent events have cast that determination and disregard for outside opinion in a potentially new light, but in spite of it all Kinsey understands better than most what it's like to be yourself, but also something more than and apart from yourself.
KH7XnDk.jpg Jessica Jones Friend Jessica is one of only two people on earth who knows that Kinsey is more than just a mechanic with a garage in Gotham. That knowledge has made her a default sounding board for Kinsey as she tries to negotiate the loneliness and challenges of being something other than she pretends to be, and through that, the two are cultivating a friendship that managed to survive Yet Another Unpleasant Revelation. Things are awkward, but genuine — states of being that, at the least, Kinsey's got plenty of familiarity with.
b0ngyAZ.jpg ????? RUINER OF THINGS She seems different.
lukecage.jpg Luke Cage Tough Guy However tough you're thinking, double that, at least. Circumstances conspired to place painful knowledge concerning his past into Six's hands - and he still doesn't know that Six is really Kinsey, the girl Matt Murdock's seeing. There's some guilt about that, but it seems possible to her it might be easier for him to have his history in the hands of some faceless, helmeted cipher, rather than someone with a face who occupies the fringe of his social circles, too.
ovrjKlK.jpg Matthew Murdock Something It's still complicated. It may never be anything other than complicated. It took a year for them to figure out whether or not they were going to let that matter.
dMgXt70.jpg Man, Spider HUGE NERD Spider-Man helped Six correct the most potentially dangerous mistake she's made since her accident. The fact that this was in small part his fault does not in any way decrease her gratitude — he was just doing his job, right? And now she owes him. Several times over, as it happens, because he got caught up in whatever it is that a mystery party in New York wants with Kinsey, and she'll go to almost any lengths to ensure that no harm comes to any innocents caught in the crossfire of her strange life.
FSG0wNR.jpg Owen Mercer Owen Somehow wound up rescuing Kinsey from the fire at Luke's Bar when he was trying to rescue Matt. She yelled at him about it, so he flipped her off. Rude! But Kinsey is Boston Irish: this is a language she speaks fluently. It's fine.
9rAhvll.jpg Peter F****** Quill, aka Star-Prince Dangerously Charming Space Guy He turns up at her garage one day with some extraterrestrial technology to fix, guaranteeing himself a spot on her contacts list for life. He flirts incessantly. Kinsey has assured him that she's already dated someone like him twice, and learned her lesson the second time.
I5XJbuw.jpg Rocket NOT A DATE Working with the DEO means Kinsey is more aware of the diversity of beings out there than most people, so she adjusted pretty quickly to Rocket, although a sentient raccoon is a new one even to her. His proficiency with technology beyond the terran type and the fact that he can apparently build things in his sleep made him interesting enough that Kinsey asked him to dinner. She could learn a lot from somebody like that. Six, meanwhile, thinks it sounds like a good idea to keep somebody around who knows how to blow things up.
ivYldtK.png Tony Stark Ugh. Kinsey's parents have some serious clout in the military, and the Sheridan name has weight in the security industry of the private sector. When the sole scion of the Sheridan family closed in on her high school graduation having already made some ripples in circles with overlap to Stark Industries, Tony Stark offered her the job of most people's dreams. Kinsey turned him down. She had her reasons. A series of unfortunate events led to her doing what he'd always obnoxiously said she would do: knocking on his door and asking for that job. But it's complicated…and whatever concessions she's making to keep the peace in their working relationship, whatever gratitude she may feel for his willingness to come to her aid when she needed it most…she still thinks he's an absolute ass.
WnEWgga.png Trish Walker Card Shark Jessica Jones' sister. Kinsey met her at a girls' poker night (they played for Oreos) and liked her immediately: Trish has a sly, wisecracking personality that pairs well with Jessica's irreverence. Watching the pair banter could make for an entertaining evening all on its own.
8RmmMnm.jpg Wilson Fisk Mr. F A man so dangerous that Kinsey has had difficulty articulating the sheer scope of his reach in the briefings she gave to the handful of others committed to orchestrating his downfall. They're coming for him anyway.
oBye2PE.jpg Zatanna Zatara Lifesaver 2.0 She saved Matt's life once. Now she's done something similar for Kinsey, too — if not her physical life, then perhaps something more subtle and less easy to define, by helping her to retain the core of who she is when it was under assault by (seriously) demonically-tainted quantum magic.

*Help I'm Alive — Metric

I tremble
They're gonna eat me alive
If I stumble
They're gonna eat me alive

Can you hear my heart beating like a hammer?
Beating like a hammer

Help I'm alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer
Hard to be soft, tough to be tender
Come take my pulse the pace is on a runaway train
Help I'm alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer
Beating like a hammer

If we're still alive
My regrets are few
If my life is mine
What shouldn't I do?
I get wherever I'm going
I get whatever I need
While my blood's still flowing
And my heart's still beating like a hammer
Beating like a hammer

*Human Behavior — Bjork

If you ever get close to a human
And human behavior
Be ready, be ready to get confused

There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
To human behavior
But yet so, yet so irresistible

And there's no map

They're terribly, terribly, terribly moody
Then all of a sudden, turn happy
But, oh, to get involved in the exchange of human emotions
Is ever so, ever so satisfying
And there's no map

Human behavior, human behavior

And there's no map
And a compass wouldn't help at all

*Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger — Daft Punk
*Bad Girls — MIA
*Nightrun — Trifonic

Jessica Jones:Breathe Me — Sia

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And the worst part is there's no one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me, I am small
I'm needy, warm me up
And breathe me

Matt:Smother — Daughter

I am wasted, losing time
I'm a foolish, fragile spine
I want all that is not mine
I want him but we're not right

In the darkness I will meet my creators
And they will all agree, that I'm a suffocator

Spider-Man:White And Nerdy — Weird Al Yankovic

First in my class here at M.I.T.
Got skills, I'm a Champion of D&D
MC Escher that's my favorite MC
Keep your 40 I'll just have an Earl Grey tea
My rims never spin, to the contrary
You'll find that they're quite stationary
All of my action figures are cherry
Stephen Hawking's in my library
My MySpace page is all totally pimped out
Got people begging for my top 8 spaces
Yo I know Pi to a thousand places
Ain't got no grills but I still wear braces
